Hi all,

I’m heading out to Quinta do Lago this Thursday for a 4-night lads’ golf trip (6 of us, all in our late 40s). I’ve only ever been with the family before, so this is my first proper golf trip with friends, and I’d love some advice on where to go in the evenings.

We’ve got Bovino booked for the first night, then afternoon tables sorted at BJ’s, 2 Passos, and Maria’s over the weekend. So after those late lunches, we’re looking for some good spots for evening drinks.

We’ll definitely head to The Cheeky Pup one night, but does anyone have other recommendations—whether it’s relaxed bars with a bit of atmosphere, live music, or somewhere livelier later on?

Any tips much appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Cheeky Pup has been the go to the last few of years I’ve been. Good live music and bustling. Nice outdoor area also. I’ve always steered clear of Villamoura but there are some decent Irish bars down there. Sounds like you know the one to give a wide birth ……. 🐈‍⬛

Get taxis to Vilamoura. It'll be nice and lively, more restaurants and bars and easier on the pocket!

I went on a golf trip to vilamoura a couple of months ago. It’s as scruffy or as nice as you want it really, plenty of choice both ends of the scale, the marina is huge and has lots of variety.

Found the beer and food prices to be significantly cheaper than the previous golf holidays I’ve been on in Spain (Marbella area, prices eye watering).

That said, everyone’s idea of expensive v cheap, scruffy v posh is different I guess, but I much preferred vilamoura to Marbella.
