Play quite a bit of stableford and looking for some variations, so trying to think of the various comp types that can use stableford scoring & suitable for 4-ball groups

2, 3 or 4 scores to count
progressive alliance
regressive alliance
2 scores to count and all 4 to count on par 3's

Any others?

Looking for something a bit different but also still lets individuals track their own stableford score for the round (so nothing too off the wall)

Thanks

We do various team stableford variations based on 2-3-4

* 2 to count on par 5, 3 to count on par 4 & 4 to count on par 3s.
* 2 to count on hole one, 3 to count on hole 2, 3 to count on hole 3 then repeat 5 times
* 2 to count on first 6 holes, 3 on next six and 4 on last six

Cheers Mike, quite like 1st and 3rd options, both sound like fun

Russian stableford.

Good as just 4 of you, or in fields in team multiples of 4.

Instead of better ball, you times the points total on each hole, per pair e.g. Player A and B are a pair.

A = 2 x B = 3 - total for hole is 6 points

A= 1 x B= 2 - total 2 points

A=4 x B=3 - 12 points

or

A= blob (0) x B= 4 - total 0 points:D

Its a good laugh, and better if no gimmees, as B may be in the hole for 4 points, then his partner (A) is sweating over a little 2 footer to make a 1 point, to times the 4 points.

Yellow ball is one I seen an open for recently, have never played it, but sounds a right laugh. Google it.

Last year I organised a weekend away, we each had a ball which simply counted for double points. You could use it on 1 hole per round (we played 2 rounds).

Thing is, the ball was camouflage coloured. All but 2 of us lost it after the 1st shot with it. :D

our roll up does Russian Stableford quite often and we also have 1,2,3. which is one to count first 6, 2 sec six etc.

Russian is very popular though, get some massive scores sometimes. best times 2nd per hole

Yeah I've played yellow ball quite a few times, its good fun, yellow ball rotates through the group after each hole and scores double points, if lost its lost and lessens the chance of winning but you've no idea when/if the other groups kept theirs all the way round so you have to keep trying
(you really don't want to lose it on 1st hole though)
