Help please guys and gals.

I'm looking to get a small 2nd TV for the kitchen (for use when HID is watching soaps/"reality"/talent shows). Probably 22/24" screen - Samsung or LG.

Going through the usual retailers online sites, there seem to be a lot of TV Monitors amongst the TVs listed.

Are these TV Monitors as good as, better, or worse than a TV of similar spec or are they designed more for gaming and the like with the TV part as an afterthought?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm going to guess...

TV has built in freeview/TV tuner

TV monitor is just a TV screen

The latter may be slightly better specced screen for the price but then you'll need a freeview box

That's a guess btw

Nar, wrong. A TV will be a TV will almost certainly have built in freeview
Whereas a TV Monitor can connect to a PC as well as doing the TV stuff above

So basically if you think you will be needing to connect to a PC, get a TV monitor, if not just get a TV

Simples :)

And interesting to see the size requirement.

That was the standard for lounge TVs not long ago! I can remember watching the classic Borg/McEnroe Final on a (loaned) 8" one!

14" used to be the standard 'small' size - and still seems to be the right size to slot in underneath cupboards.

Thanks for the replies so far chaps. Seems that I'm not the only one confused (apart from our resident computer expert).

Yes, the TV Monitors have freeview built in and seem to have better connectivity but trying to compare like for like is difficult. The monitors seem to be cheaper as well.

(BTW, the description of Freeview HD on the TV is, I believe, wrong.)
