Supposed to be off to Portugal on 26th for 4 nights (fly to Lisbon and stay at Praia del Rey) - has anyone been lately and can comment on testing procedures, how esy to get test when there etc

TIA

We were in Portugal in June.

Booked the test for out there whilst in the UK. They post you the text and you just Skype them as you take the test.

Was all seemless.

Was in vilamoura last month, just need to get a test 3 days before flying home and the test centres are just pop up tents dotted all over the place. No need to book just turned up and got tested after a 5 min wait.

Thanks - also needed PCR before departure and proof of day 2 test on return? any recommendations for providers?

Can you get a free PCR test via the NHS?

I really feel the test on return needs to come to an end if you've been to a "green" destination.

An unfair added cost to everyone.

No we had to pay for them all. 1 test on way out 1 more before coming home, then on returning a day 2 and another day 8 test. So 4 tests in total for each person

guessing you havent had both jabs? otherwise you shouldt need the Day 8

Correct the testing is a farce - wont go away quickly either as its a cash cow

No my house haven’t been jabbed but I took my mum who at the time had the first vaccine and she still needed to do day 2 and 8 on returning

Do you mind reporting back how it all goes? I'm off to Praia del Rey for 7 nights from 16th September. Are you playing West Cliffs as well?

Only if you have symptoms.

I have just booked our Day 2 PCR tests with Boots for the 8th Sept. 20 min slots available at larger branches. £85 each.
Hotel in Palma arranges departure fight tests in hotel for €75 each.

This is all a total money making scam. Have ministers bought shares in testing houses??

Absolutely no need for people to be tested, especially if fully vaccinated.

Who do you suppose pays the lab technicians?

Vaccination does not prevent infection nor transmission. It reduces the chance of serious illness.
