another big shout for Scott - he's a really top bloke
got my irons, driver & wedges from him this year...........

as far as swing speed - I was averaging 112 (115 max).... 156 ball speed and (....rummages thro desk for paperwork) averaged 252 carry, tho did get it out to 270 with a total distance of 290

oh - and I don't think he uses range balls, but I stand to be corrected

i think he uses z stars, but he said he has pro v's and others that can be used.i'm intrigued by your numbers because a friend of mine was swinging at 108 average but with a ball speed of over 160 and his yardages were coming up as 280-290 and total being as much as 320.i don't understand that at all,i did think it was long yardages for that ss but who knows.

i'll need to get booked up for this, just need to see how my funds are doing.

Scott uses nothing but the best.....

They talk about smash factor, which basically means how efficient your hit is at transferring clubhead speed into ball speed. With a driver a good factor is 1.5. This means from 100 mph swing speed, the ball speed should show at 150 (150 / 100 = 1.5).

Basically the velocity of the club at both impact and separation is important for ball speed, hence you can 2 swing speeds the same and differing ball speeds (angle of attack and how much energy goes into spin can also factor into this). A solid swing would lose about 20% of clubhead speed during impact (the club hits the ball, with an equal and opposite reaction, the ball hits the clubhead), if you lose more ball speed suffers.

Mucking around with club heads and shafts to get the right spin and velocity characteristics is what the custom fit is about, finding a club (grip, shaft and head) to suit your impact dynamics. Hence, you can conceivably hit a ball with one club and improve carry by a considerable distance through a 'good' or appropriate fit.

.

quality of strike & dispersion killed me - these are averages, and although I could get it out there I had a number of real shonky ones that pull the ave down
also - i (like most club golfers I believe) have a tendency to hit slightly down on the ball, even with a driver - when i adjusted to hit on the "up' my clubhead speed was down a little but distance up, coz of the reduced spin on the ball......

you'll have an absolute blast when you go!
