Torres - quality or not?

You have to remember the team he is now playing for. Many teams turn up against Chelsea and sit very deep pack their own half, if he knocks it by the defender theres no space to run into. When he was at Liverpool which was a team in a decline many teams thought they could have a real go at them and defended higher up which is why the ball over the top worked very well. What you have to remember is the people playing these balls into him were Xavi Alonso and Gerrard 2 top passers of the ball, Chelsea dont have that they have scoring midfielders and defensive midfielders, there is no top class passer in that team. Plus the formation Torres does well when playing with 2 up top where as Chelsea play more of a 451 which means he is more of a target man than the poacher he was.

I'd have on the bench for our team to start with, and bring him on after 40 mins.... we change behind the bike shed, and he'd have to wash his own kit.

I think he is class been honest , bit sulky but never the less class , maybe trying too hard at the min & its not working , i think he will head back to spain & it will be good for him , soooner the better for him too , be like that boy Forlan at utd , went back to Valencia (i think) proved his quality ..

will gladly do a swop.. torres for saha with add ons of 1985 CWC dvd . 1995 FA Cup DVD & a hghlights of the 2000-2010 sason dvd (22mins long :D)

I bet 21 mins of that was derby games.....

i enjoyed watching him struggle when he first went to chelsea. But to be fair i do kind of feel sorry for the lad now. WHen he was at us he was class and scored goal of the season when i was there so always loved him for that.
Problem at chelsea is he has been playing 2nd fiddle for a long time and he isnt used to that. Every now and again he has his flashes of brilliance but thats it a flash. He seems to get dis heartened very easily like he did when playing under Roy Hodgson who i personally think ruined his career!

But as the old addage says class is permanent form is tempoary. Hopefully he can dig himself out his rut but to be fair a change of club might be good for him. Would like to see him back to his best in the prem but possible going back to spain maybe the answere.

Would we have had 21 mins of highlights in most of them ha ? , wouldnt be so sure , its the replays drag it out to 22..

Possibly including draws. Ive been to lots of derbies at Woodison and seen a few over the years. The most hurtful were:-

1. The 1988 one were you beat us 1-0 to stop us beating Leeds unbeaten 29 games from the start of the season. 2. The other years FA cup replay 3. The one were Andy Johnston got a few.

The best were:-
1. 5-0 at my very first derby. I was in the lower bullens EFC end.
2. Gary macs goal in the 3-2 win. I was in the upper bullens EFC end
3. The 3-2 in 1986 were KK scored after 20 seconds.Proably in the Everton end again.

Sorry, didn't mean to highjack the thread. Er, Torres scored some class goals in the derby games. Sorted.

As I said before the guy is finished as far as being a world class striker is concerned.

Everytime he scores people say he'll come good, then he goes another 10 games without a goal. Chelsea might not be the best team but they still create plenty of chances. He just misses them with awful finishing. Sure his overhead was unlucky the other week but other than that, he struggles to strike the ball clearly.

He'll improve as no one can average 1 goal every 8 games forever. All Torres will ever be is a 10-15 goal a season back up striker.

For £50m that isn't good enough.
