Hi all,
Firstly the conditions were cold with a medium breeze blown in the usual northerly direction. This round was for my 3rd card for a handicap.
The 1st hole a nice par 1/2 a foot off a birdie, 2nd hole a par 4, then it went pear shaped on the next four holes, ending up with 44 (+12!). the back 7 holes went much better, ended up with 29 (+2) so a 73 on a par 59. I'll take that considering the conditions and the fact I couldn't do anything from 30-50yards! That let me down, but I know where to improve. One of my playing partners scored a 66-22=44!!! bandit! He did hit green in reg most times tho. I see his handicap being shortened. I'll let you know what the handicap committee decide to give me.
Overall a good days golf, just wanna get on normal greens!

You've lost me anyway Bob! :D :D :D :D

I think you might find (and I stand to be corrected) that if they are on temps and the course has been shortened by xx yards then it won't count for qualifying purposes. Certainly the case when we play a competition and have to use the temps. Can't get a handicap cut or a 0.1 back as it's a non-qualifier

Indeed, Homer is right, if you have temp greens or the course is more than 100yds shorter than the measured distance it can't count for handicap. It's all good practice though.

Can we play qualifying competitions using winter tees and greens?

Clause 13.1 of the CONGU UHS allows a Club to run qualifying competitions if there are temporary tees and not more than two temporary greens in play. The adjusted length however must not very by more than 100 yards from the courses official measured length.
