Tips for warming up....

for most folks the exercises to be able to warm up & swing well you need to really put in a bunch of exercises before you get to the range/course. some here on the vid around folks problem areas.

once there at the range/course, long club behind the shoulders then into golf posture bending from the hips, not the waist, do some torso upper body rotations.

get two short irons hold both in one hand on the steel below the grip & do some windmill swings (like a swimming backstroke but you stand straight feet a little apart) both backwards & forwards. take it easy with the swings if you've not done it before.

then use both clubs to make a 3/4 golf swing backwards & forwards continuous motion but with the clubhead swinging around just below knee height.

if you have time to hit into a net or practice ground, start with 3/4 wedges swinging at around 70% effort, the key is to focus on balance, rhythm so you get a good timed sequence so decent contact. then if you have time work up through the bag sometimes evens sometimes odds, just few swings with each iron, again it"s about only balance, rhythm, sequence at 70% effort. couple with a hybrid, metal same focus as before.

then finally couple of again just 70% easy swings with the club you're going to be using for the 1st tee shot, but with this visualize the hole & visualize a small target area, visualize the ball going to that target, then execute a smooth rehearsal swing, rehearsal swing is the exact same smooth swing you want through the ball, different to a practice swing which is normally just loose & unfocussed.

get chance to watch the LPGA, look out for the Chinese golfer Feng, who always makes the exact same 'rehearsal' swing & usually only one, before stepping up & hitting the shot. you should notice the rehearsal swing is the 'exact' swing in length, tempo & rhythm & balance she then puts on the ball, she's imagining that the rehearsal swing is going through a ball, possibly she does this better than anyone.

It used to be a ciggy and a laugh with the lads. Now it's just the laugh. Golf has improved none.

ahhh those were the days! crisp autumnal morning with tea and a bacon roll near the putting green. Filling the air with beautiful blue toffee scented smoke which warmed up your insides and brain.........on the 1st if you hit a cracker you'd celebrate with a fresh ciggy, if a bad one you'd commiserate with a fresh ciggy. Repeat at the halfway hut but maybe something stronger. Think there was some golf in there also.

Sounds absolutely idyllic.
What brand of fags were they?
