Had my midweek round today which was ruined by my putter. The worst hole was the Par 3 11th.157 yards took a 6 iron to within 12 feet and then 3 putted.I am not sure a new putter is the answer but i think a change might just have the right effect.Using a Fisher Touch(black insert) at the moment so will probably go for a mallet style next. :D

Do you have just the one putter? I have always kept mine and now switch to a fro depending on how things are going. I practice a lot of putting and can only recommend that you do lots of work (maybe have a lesson) and swap to the one that suits your game and specific weaknesses at the time.
I'm currently back on my Odyssey df 550 (same as Homer's?), it's lovely now that the greens are speeding up. I used a mallet for the last 6 months, great for long range, but nowhere near as good for short range putts.

I only have one putter, so a blade type might not be right for me.My main problem seem to be leaving it short.Reading the green and taking the right line seems to be ok.

If you can pick one up try an Benross VMC. You can pick them up for as little as £25.00 and are a great club. Can change the weighting from heavy to light depending on the greens.

Try the Williams F4 2 Ball Mallet Putter and the Gear for Golf XP5 (?). Both are cheap n good places to start. I'd happily play with either.....

don't look past the taylormade spider thats just come out, tried it today when I was at my fitting session and if the trusty ping wasn't at its best currently I'd certainly have bought it.

If it helps I recommend the Odyssey Marxman mallet. Very well balanced with a nice soft feel off the face.

I think you may benefit from a putting lesson though. When I had mine I was amazed how poor my alignment (particularly my shoulder to target) and although I thought I had my eyes directly over the ball they were way out.

You might also be opening and closing the putter head on the way through (maybe peeking on the short ones which will cause the shoulders to turn)

Stevo, ignore them all, there all talking rubbish, :D see my signature for the putter to get, or the #9

I had a fisher putter, green insert, was lovely in AG, out on the greens, different storey!

Thing is, if your taking the right line and breaks then you may just need to work on distance control. Some good drills knockin about to help you on this. PM if you want any idea's!

If you are going for a new putter, take ya time, and the putter will find you. Dont skimp at it either, if money is tight, save up!

I thought the Fisher's were pretty weighty, not necessarily heavy but solid. Can you change the insert? if I remember correctly the black was the firmest?

Is it balanced correctly for you? my pro checked this when I got my Ping (straight back and through = face balanced).

I'm yet to be convinced that the indoor putting areas aren't biased toward the holes! Got to test them outside.

I'd say, wait until the greens are a little better, they can't be up to their tip-top shape of summer yet, so your putting cant be at it's best yet. If you do buy a new putter, dont throw your old one away, I've made that mistake before and it's cost me a few quid. MD are doing some awsome putters at the moment though, with interchangeable face inserts, all sound quite complicated but it's really simple, you have a hard insert and a soft insert, really easy to change over as well. I'd definitley consider looking at them if you're going to buy a new putter.
