Tiger Woods to return at The Masters

GO TIGER, win it and shut all the whingers up. Let's be honest here, he has done more for golf than anyone else in the last 15 years. He has an unequaled game, superb major record and regardless of how people perceive him now everyone has admired him at some point in the past.
Would golf be in the Olympics if it weren't for Tiger Woods? How many people has Tiger woods brought into the game of golf?
I'm a Tiger Woods Fan and proud of it.

I reckon Tiger should have done the decent thing and just got divorced, and continued to play golf!! he is not ill, he is just a rich man that likes to enjoy things!!
I hope he doesnt win the Masters, I hate his petulence and the constant coverage of him, even when he is just scratching his rear!

No he's not ill, good point. Did someone say he was ill. I dont think he'll win it, but I hope he does just for the above drivel.

If anyone gets chance to have a squint at the newest edition of Golf International then there is a fantastic interview with Peter Alliss in their Masters preview.

Even for those that think he is too old for the BBC commentary, this article is the first one I've read that shows clear and straight forward thinking regarding the whole TW episode.

Notice that it is the serial moaners that "hate" the coverage, "hate" Tiger, "hate" US tour, "hate" Butch Harmon. Your lives must be pretty dull to waste so much energy hating so many things. Lighten up, if nothing else The Masters signals that summer and t-shirt golf is nearly here, then you can "hate" your golfer's tan marks!! :p

The best player in the world is back playing in comps again. Brilliant. You can ignore this "not match fit" rubbish that has been spouted. He is the best, and will not be playing in the Masters unless he thinks he will be ready and good enough to win it. Does anyone think the only practice he has been doing is on his Playstation at home? Get a grip. He will be challenging, as usual. Order will be restored. If you don't like watching the best player show off his skills, and to what we all aspire, don't watch and don't moan about it.

The reason I mentioned Tiger not being ill is because he has been talking like he is, taking about being an in-patient, and is undergoing therepy to help recover etc, I actually do think Tiger has taken the game to a new level over the last 15 years, and he is a great player. What I dont like is how he behaves sometimes, but mostly the media coverage of him. Yes he is a great player, but there are other players playing that I like to watch also.

2 months of in patient therapy. What a load of complete and utter horse s**t. Tiger's transgressions are not an illness and need nothing more than a kick up the backside and a long hard look at himself in the mirror. Instead we get this hand wringing woe is me fake contrition.

I hope he plays like a 12 handicapper at Augusta.

What, like 300yd average drives, 8/10 chipping and fantastic green reading ;)

A 300 yard drive is no good when hit sideways. If Tiger is not match fit, and he has a few strops, he can play himself out of the event pretty smartish. Not to mention the fact that he will know what almost every person looking at him is thinking about.

It was more of a reference to the 12 h'cappers :o

He hasn't done all that badly by hitting it sideways though has he??

I think he should have a had a bit more respect for the Masters and either missed it, or played in the Arnold Palmer Invitational beforehand. The media will now be entirely focussed on him (more than usual), which (a) is boring for those of us who want to watch the golf, not the Tiger show, and (b) could be an unfair distraction for the other players in the field.

But it would have been [more] acceptable to do all the detracting at Arnie's comp?? :D

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Hate to say it, but yes. I don't think he should be planning a comeback at a major. He's doing it for max publicity. If he had any respect for anyone he should have chosen a low(er) key event with which to stage his forced "I'm so sorry" sob stories.

But then you detract from the "run of the mill" pros who never get a sniff of the limelight and are at a [for them] big tournament.

As I say, damned if you do, damned if you don't. At least when it's done, we can put it all to bed (so to speak).

you wish. this will be brought up ad nauseum at every event that he competes in this year, and on every anniversary of either last game, tree or re-start for eons to come.

and the first question for every interview 'do you think Tiger was right to return for the Masters?'

What will be brought up 'ad nauseum at every event that he competes in this year' will be his snot!!

Unless he has had time to discover that he needs golf and not the other way round, we will again have to put up with his child like tantrums, swearing, club throwing and snot.

His loss of money making advertising may make him realise he is not 'the gift' he thought he was.

If he listens to his management team, he will give his wife a divorce, behave as any single guy is allowed to and offer us a golfer, in the years to come, that could really be a legend.

I agree there isn't a perfect time to do it. But I think Tiger has put enough things to bed recently, namely blondes. It's time for him to move on...probably to brunettes.
