Tiger Woods to return at The Masters

No chance of seeing anyone else on TV coverage then! Why could he have not selected a low key tournament for his return. Tiger is just being completely selfish once again!!

Welcome to the forum DJT.
Me and you are going to get on just fine :)

You don't have to be, but in Tigers case, he is, so why change a winning formula? He also has an arrogant caddy. Is he going to change too? I don't think so.

As someone on here would say, 'knobs', the pair of them.

In my opinion he should have come back at a low key event instead of the first major of the year. The whole media coverage will be dominated by Tigers return rather than the event itself.
Makes no difference, if he came back at a crazy golf course in Scarborough the media would be all over it. ;)

I agree but in line with the new Tiger wouldn't it be nice if he showed some consideration to others by not letting the Tiger circus overshadow such an special event.

Superb news and I hope he wins it.

I said all along he should skip making a comeback before the Masters and do it at the big one. No doubt folk will moan that he is taking the limelight away from the event but that will only be happening because he is the biggest pull in world golf and world golf needs the great man badly.

I still wonder if he'll make his come back next week in the Tavistock Cup. The Masters will be his 'competitive' come back event.

He's said he wont be at this event and has spoken to Arnold Palmer aswell to say he wont be at the Invitational either. The Masters is definitely his first event back

So the Woods sideshow to overshadow the games most enduring major!
awful I had hoped he would retire
we now have to endure his scowling, club slinging, arrogance, swearing presence - shame really - golf survived without him and i am sure it would continue to do so ---bad news for me i am afraid

Well said. Good golfer but the blokes a first class PRICK!!!

I don't think it's Tiger's fault that he gets some much attention on the course (recent events aside). He's won 14 Majors and the next person that does that will surely attract this sort of attention as well, that is just how it is.

It has to be a good thing that he's back, he's the world's number one. He's not the only one who throws his clubs and swears - there a more than a few of those. Let's hope he quits the other horrid habit and smiles a bit more though, but if not that doesn't alter the fact he's an amazing golfer.

I don't think his comeback will overshadow the event. If some of his rivals want the spotlight, go and grab it as he's going to be rusty.....

Tiger Woods is making his comeback at The Masters between April 8-11 - and that is official from the man himself.

Just 25 days after the world number one said he might not play this year, he has decided he will be ready to play again at Augusta.

"The major championships have always been a special focus in my career and, as a professional, I think Augusta is where I need to be, even though it's been a while since I last played," he said in a statement on Tuesday.

I don't understand all this he's bigger than the game, gets too much attention etc. He is the number 1 by right based on his performances as a golfer irrespective of whatever else has transpired. He'd have been the main focus of network coverage during his round even before all this happened and so nothing has changed.

Personally I think he'll be the same focussed guy on the course. How he behaves off it doesn't really bother me that much. I'm a golf fan and so its about the event and not Tiger. If he wins then he'll prove why he's number 1 and if he doesn't then the winner won't have the "Tiger wasn't there so it doesn't really count" accusation to deal with. The best score over four rounds wins. Simples.

I actually think the Masters is one of the better (if that isn't a contradiction in terms) events for US coverage purely because on the first two days the Augusta powers limit coverage and so the hosts do try and give a bit of a flavour of what else is going on. BBC often show bits and pieces of the European guys and there is always the interactive coverage of Amen corner

The usual crap from the Masters then:-

* TV that mainly shows players on the greens
* Horrid yanks screaming "In the hole" & "Go Tiger"
* Every other camera shot is Tiger Woods no matter where he is in the standings
* Adverts every two minutes

Got bored of the masters and Yank golf last season.
