Tiger, Thomas and the Tampon

I wouldn't take offence. I would just think you're totally unfunny. I can't see how playing a bad shot is related in any way to being female. But I wouldn't be playing with you anyway.
I should have stated the comments would have come if you'd left a 6 foot putt 5 feet short. It's a bit funny.
As far as your last comment is concerned I'm glad you worked that bit out. Maybe your not as thick as your posts make out...

It's nothing to do with woke or being upset. It's simply because it's not funny and totally unprofessional. Though 'woke' is defined as being aware of prejudice and inequality and acting to stop it. I can never understand why anyone would have a problem with that and use it as a negative term.

Must say, I do like cut of this crumplezone fella’s jib.

The average wage in Mexico is below that of the USA. This is a fact.
Perhaps Kuchar was right to pay his Caddie next to nothing when he won out in Mexico a few years back? After all Mexicans are worth less?
Pathetic attempt to score a point.

As to the *** comment.

That's even worse.

The irony here is delicious 😂🤣 Sorry smiffy, I’m no grammar pedant, but that made me chuckle.

In fact, I think we can safely now say you’re funnier than tiger woods 😜

It's really no surprise that male golfers drive it longer that female ones. Didn't really need a tampon to make the point.
But it was a funny-ish way to say "JT, you hit it like a girl".
Not especially funny. Not every joke between friends, even if they laugh at it, is. But it was slightly funny.

I am sure we have all heard or said, something along the lines of "those tees probably suit you better" when someone tops a drive from the mens tees onto the ladies tee.

“ladies tee”.👴

If you joined our fourball you wouldn't get off the first tee. We joke about all aspects of human behaviour. Nobody is offended, nobody else hears what we say. I would never say anything I thought would be offensive to someone I didn't know well. There's one person who I sometimes play with who never swears. I wouldn't feel comfortable about swearing in his presence so I don't. Similarly, I am old fashioned & I, & the other members of my fourball, would never swear in front of a woman, unless she swore first. Despite being a dinosaur I think I've seldom offended anyone with an inappropriate comment.

As far as the Tiger thing is concerned, it was a childish joke. If anyone had done it to me I'd have laughed. My wife tells me that men often behave in a childish manner. I can't argue with that.

You can't conflate amateur golfers having their Sunday morning fourball with Proffesional golf though.

If I was debating politics with a mate in a pub, there's a very good chance I'd say something along the lines of "stop talking out of your effing backside" if I didn't agree with him (obviously I'm not allowed to swear on here), but if Keir Starmer shouted something similar across the HOC at Roland Rat, then quite rightly - his career would be over.

Where is the difference?
You’re misogynistic stand point is not a good look
The intent meant when calling someone a *** is far more sinister.

As to "my look" I'm far more concerned what my friends think of me than the professionally offend (on others behalf)

Very true. They are at work, on tv, and on show.

Who is Roland Rat supposed to be?

Isn't it just a little bit misogynistic for a group of men to decide what is sexist or offensive to women? Can't the little ladies defend themselves?

No it clearly isn’t.

Are you the type to think that no-one who isn’t an ABC identity ‘cannot’ have views on anything else? Notwithstanding the fact that life-experiences are highly personal and ‘identities’ multifarious and overlapping

One of the biggest problems with contemporary society is the idiocy of identity politics and intersectionality, and how this manifests itself…what, can’t other humans understand the human condition and empathise with others? 🤪

A man cannot disrupt another man being inappropriate or harassing a woman (in his opinion) on a train, because ‘he is not a woman, how can he understand a woman’s perspective of harassment’ ?
That’s the corollary of your view….

Far more sinister? Who are you to decide that being offensive to one group of people is more or less sinister than being offensive to another?
As for being more concerned with what your friends think of you, why are you taking the time to interact with someone who is “professionally offended “? Is it so you can tell your like minded misogynist friends how you took someone “professionally offended “ to task on an internet forum?

Like it or not, golf has in the past , has problems with sexism, it is only in the very very recent past that Muirfield finally allowed female members!
With that in mind, what Tiger did was at best crass and stupid, it doesn’t take a genius to work out that if that stunt got out it was going to go only one way.
What he has done as someone who is so influential in the golfing world has damaged the image of golf, like it or not, it has.
He has seen fit, or more likely his PR team have seen fit, for him to issue an apology, a bunch of people on the internet defending and in some cases lauding his actions is further doing nothing to help the sports image.
It’s sad that so many can’t see that

Exactly this. I'm not sure if some of the neanderthals on here really don't get it, or are just really keen to show off what a******** they are?

Personally, I've not said that. But even if I had there's still a world of difference between me saying it to a friend and Tiger Woods giving Justin Thomas a tampon in front of a watching crowd and TV cameras.

It's just a really poor look for a sport that often gets bashed for its image. If you work for an organisation trying to promote golf to a wider audience then I'm sure there's an element of... frustration... at what they saw.

Wow there are some seriously judgemental people on here
