Thinking of changing tee off time !

I prefer early. If I tee off later I just spend the morning thinking about it, then I'll invariably turn up too early, get bored waiting and by the time I tee off I've had enough. I like to get there and get going as early as possible

Could have been written for me.

Most of my social golf at my home club I tee off anytime from 11am onwards, sadly in competitions I invariably have to tee off much earlier, the worst being the club champs where I get a tee time in the 7.20s usually, Im barely even awake when we come through the turn!!!! (And yes Im proposing its changed from handicap order to a normal drawn comp now im on the committee lol)

Normally earlier the better for me, helps with family time but also love getting out first thing.

Summer season I'm always out at the back of 7 if I can, not held up and 0.1 in the bag by breakfast time....

11.30...... Sorry I'm out!

By then I'd want to be on 14/15 and on my way in. That's a weird time where you normally get clogged with social guests/women/juniors.

830/900 is about the latest I like to tee off

Interesting thread and very relevant to myself. Generally in the summer my pp & I play on a wed afternoon and then in the sat competition. On a sat morning we tee off at 7:14....3rd fourball out. We are usually finished by 10:45-11...back in the house no later than 11:30 every week. This is very important to me for a quiet life with the mrs lol, given we've two wee lads of 5&3 and we both work all week. Rest of sat is family time etc. Tbh, if I wasn't home in good time like that I'm not sure I would get out!

Now here's the thing. Our scores on a sat compared with a wed are like night & day! It's still a comp on a wed so we take it just as serious and I'd say the pressure is the same, but given we've been up for a few morehours we just seem to be more awake, loosened up and ready etc. it's the same for the both of us, probably even more so for my pp. For a 7:14 tee off we usually get to the club around 6:54, sign in and get all that over with an head straight to the 1st tee, 2 practice swings and away. On the odd occasion we get 5 min on the putting green but that would be the most. I'd usually get up at 6 for this and even tried getting up a bit earlier and doing all my stretching at home etc but it never seemed to work! I think were both half asleep to be honest and no amount of coffee is helping.

The other 2 in the fourball seem to deal with it better tbf but for me it's a toss up between a later tee time and (hopefully) better results versus grief in the house which in the long run could lead me cracking up**

We have good friends that tee off at 10:45 as were coming in and they say the "traffic" is a nightmare...while we're round in 3.5 hrs they're closing in on 5 some weeks, that would put me off as well tbh.

So what do you do, get a later tee time in the hope of better results and fight with the mrs...or stick with silly o clock and quite possibly stick with worse results & a quieter home life?

Rant over and help!?

**anybody ever get divorced over golf as I reckon I could come close to it lol

Depends on what else is going on. In an ideal world I'd do the same as I'd like bit of a lie in, cooked b/fast, up the club, coffee and then on to range / short game area / putting green followed by trouble free 18 holes, a beer (or two) and then back home where dinner would be waiting.

Back to reality, kids, wife and house all need time, work is busy so reality is that an 8 am tee allows me to be done by 12 ish and back home before 1 to spend the remaining day and a half with the family. In the summer I normally manage to get to the range by 7:30 but this time of year it is too dark / cold / shut!

S

This is me, get the text of the day with the family as they have swimming in the morning. Plus when it's light I just get up early, few balls on the range first bit of putting and chipping and off we go. We tee of most weeks at 0757 so usually get there about 700-715.

Our club champs are in handicap order, but the other way round. Just an idea if they don't go for the 'drawn' idea.

I tee off in a roll up that goes out around 8.00 on a Saturday and so not a lot of time to warm up before hand. As our comps are drawn starting at 8.00 there's usually a bigger wind of opportunity to get out and warm up properly. In the roll up a couple of swishes in the net and I'm done but I do struggle over the first few holes. However it's now lighter again by 7.20 or so I can start warming up again. Show me the money! Sweep cash here I come

Who was that I used to see on the practice ground when I pulled into the car park at 715 on Saturday mornings then?
