Think I need to change my spec ..

I have actually had a separate fitting with lie tape and impact tape, which did confirm that the current spec was a little too flat but I did opt to have a few lessons and see if it was me and my basics. However nothing gave me the shot shape and ease of reproduction than the updated spec. I will have another look at it hopefully this afternoon! If the spec comes out similar to the updated or the old one well then I will have to have a rethink.

well I had an independent fitting today. Just went along and tried the S55 and I25s out and just see where it all ended up. Well as some of you stated there was a little technique issue and that was resolved the strike pattern and impact board were used and it was found that yellow dot was good for me. The fitter wanted me to go to the S55 yellow dot with the PX5.5 shaft but the old i25 was pretty forgiving and the difference between the two was really nothing bar what I could get away with.
However the PX5.5 shaft is £170 up charge shaft making the whole lot a cool £600 ... which is pretty stiff ! So I think I will see if my Pro who has now signed on with Ping will send the i15s off to be knocked to yellow from red.

Went to drop them off this morning, pro said let's have a look. So I set up and he said he reckoned they did not need changing. He could pop a 10p under ther toe and a couple of swings with impact tape on the sole showed they were okay. So he said go and have a practice and come back for a lesson if there was a problem. So that's what I will do despite doing that for the last couple of months.

this just seems like an epic pain in the backside ...

That's probably what the pro thought when you walked in the shop too!

To be honest,I think the Pro is right and you are 'over-thinking' about technical things that you shouldn't be bothering with. Snelly's 'just hit the pigging ball and stick it in the hole without all the techie malarkey' could well be the best approach for you to take, rather than doubting tiny details here and there. And this coming from something of a techie-freak (who knows that the swing weight of a couple of irons is vastly different from others but doesn't notice/care!). That strike pattern on the face was a huge amount better than most of us get and is certainly consistent - even if it may be slightly less than optimum!

Well I will follow his advice and I will attempt to get the dispersion numbers I was achieving, if not then that's it decision made. I am not interested in practicing my short game when I know that there is a change that will leave me on the green or on the target that I was aiming at. I think the tweek that was suggested yesterday was pretty sound and I think I can groove it in. But the season is starting and time for mucking about is short.
