Car insurance renewal through for HID and it's only gone up £28.00. It still includes the RAC and legal cover.

Am going to go on a comparison site to see what other renewals are.

My Sky was due for renewal and I hate this phone all every 18 months worse that missing a 3 foot putt.
I was ready to pack it in as they wanted to increase by £10 to £57 monthly. Added to that I had done some homework and spoke about inflation 4.7%, fixed income etc. He wanted an admin fee £20 which I said I would go on the notice period and he deleted..

In the end which was quick he said increase £1 to £48, I would have paid more.

When he checked he said there was a further £2 reduction so it is LESS than original price.

Could not believe my luck.

Wasn't sure whether to post in random irritations, but now I've made it through, it goes here...

My wife went away on Friday morning on a trip to Ireland for a friend's birthday. First time I've had our baby on my own for an entire weekend. Friday was easy, she goes to nursery all day so I played golf and just had her in the evening.

Saturday I took her to my parents for the day just to make it more fun (hard to fill a day for a ten month old!) She was good as gold all day, my parents love seeing her. Then about an hour after her dinner (some beef stew packet thing) she chundered it all back up! Chunks all over her clothes, the high chair, carnage. We clean it all up between us (high chair is a bloody nightmare to clean by the way). I get her changed and ready to go home - give her a milk before we go (plan is for her to fall asleep in the car and I transfer her straight into bed). Just as I'm about to set off again she pukes all the milk back up, so I have to bring the car seat and everything back in the house to clean her up again. Poor little girl! Eventually we get back and she does go to sleep. She wakes in the middle of the night - hungry no doubt since she's chucked everything up. I give her a milk and that comes back up as well (at 4am) and I'm on my own this time. 😆 Eventually get her cleaned up and somehow back to sleep at 5am just by giving her plenty of sips of water.

Today the plan was going to be that she goes to my in-laws for the afternoon so I could have some time to myself, but I couldn't do that to them since I didn't know if she would be chundering again. So we had the entire day to ourselves. I only fed her milk and small portions of fruit smoothies basically but she managed to keep it all down. As I mentioned it's kinda hard to fill a day with such a young baby, but we watched some of her favourite cartoons, played with her toys, went for a walk etc.

Stressful but ultimately, the baby is still alive so I'm reflecting and feeling proud of myself for passing this great parenting test. How the hell do single parents do this all the time? New level of respect from me.

Sometimes our childless life saddens me. Reading this, not so much.

Was manning our church outreach stall in the town Christmas Market yesterday, giving away 600 knitted and crocheted Christmas tree shaped tree decorations made by the ladies (mostly) of our congregation. It was lovely seeing the delight of children choosing their tree decorations and that of the parent finding out we were just giving them away. There was an expectation we’d be selling them, after all nobody gives away anything nice these days.

As I might have said to quite a few…Christmas isn’t actually about money (though it seems to be)…there is much that can be freely given to another that costs not a penny but gives pleasure or comfort.

I tried to visit the market but, after trying for over half an hour to park my car, I just gave up.
Farnham was gridlocked, it was raining and people were abandoning cars wherever they thought fit.
Nah, life's too short.
Great shame as it's usually an excellent event.

It cleared up round about 1:15pm, though I’m not too sure on that as I wasn‘t clock watching. And yes the weather was awful to start with and as I took the ‘front of house’ part of standing out of the shelter of our gazebo I got thoroughly soaked. Got really busy. And the market is indeed an excellent event. Many folks parked in the station car park and walked the short distance in rather than trying to park in the town centre.

Went to get my hair cut this pm…the French lad is well gone and it’s either of the Algerian and the Jordanian lads who cut it (have really interesting conversations about their homelands with both).

When paying up…£12…isn’t it usually £17? says I. Ah yes, but you are a senior citizen 😂 We had been talking hair loss and thinning, not that I (yet) have too much of either…but in the chat he had asked how old I was…👍

A senior citizen…well there you go.🙄

I was horrified to be offered a seat on a bus recently… I’m old:(

My cousin, lovely guy but quite vain, is still traumatised from the summer when he was given a discount on a pub lunch because it was 'OAP Tuesday' 🤣.

He did qualify, he just didn't expect to be told he qualified on sight .

I feel his pain. Several years ago, during a bad back/hip period I was in a queue in arrivals at Manchester airport, and using sticks. I was offered the opportunity to skip the queue. “No thanks” Not sure I got that one right.

This, I had both our kids (2.5yr old girl and a 9 month old lad) for a full weekend the other week whilst the good lady had a well deserved trip down to London with her pals.

Unlike yours, both kids were absolutely good as gold and we had a great weekend together - so much so that I was thinking to myself "I don't know why she's always so tired this is an absolute breeze".

As soon as she got home we got the kids bathed and ready for bed together - the adrenaline or whatever i was running on wore off and I ended up falling asleep before the 2yr old at about 6:45pm and slept fully clothed until 7am the next day 😂. Its just exhausting!

We plan to have a second and I know it's going to be a totally different ball game then.
