The thing I hate about decorating is moving all the stuff. Give me an empty room and it is a 2 day job - Day 1 ceiling - coffee - first coat on walls - lunch - 2nd coat on walls. Day 2 a couple of hours to do the gloss work.

I can't believe decorating is sullying this thread. It's the one potential DIY job I've refused to do for the last 20 years and would rather get someone in for.

Same here mate. It would take me about 5-6 days and look crap as opposed to paying someone to do it in two and it looks quality.

It's not necessarily that they're that much better. They're just much quicker and you aren't personally looking at every single square inch from 18 inches and seeing every little defect, like when you're doing it yourself.

Unfortunately got to put it all back at 7 for the wife as I'm working tomorrow then Sunday got 4 hours , 6 hours Monday and Thursday
Just Ubered KFC for lunch. Very useful id say. Whilst they got it I did another wall and soon as I'm finished I'm cracking on

I had to smile when I started to do certain areas in lockdown which I had previously paid for - the quality of the work when seen up close.
One thing I always hate with 'professional' decorators is the fact they do not loosen light switches and electric sockets and paint round the edges of them rather than under them. Lovely little 'trays' for light switches etc to sit as the paint layers build up - great if you can find the same one when they need replacing.

My Mrs and our daughter off up to London this evening - pre theatre dinner then to West End to see the musical - Mean Girls - at the Savoy. My Mrs has has very difficult time recently with her brother dying four weeks ago and our daughter has been a massive support to her...they deserve the night out together

I thought this until I got an airless sprayer. Changed the painting game completely. Can paint a room start to finish in about an hour and the finish is awesome.

Not much more to tell. Wagner airless sprayer, fill the bucket with a slightly thinned paint and spray the walls/ceilings in a sweeping, slightly overlapping pattern and Robert is your mother’s brother.Tell me more
Did the living room (7m x 3.5m) in about an hour. Yeah, took about half an hour to mask everything up/cover the flooring but still quicker than a roller/brush approach.
