The living room repaint started today, I had a spare few hours before work. Managed to smash out a first coat on almost one side the room

Got a day off tomorrow, kids staying at my mum's so I can paint for 10 hours and see just how much I can get done.

Need it done before the new sofas arrive

The thing I hate about decorating is moving all the stuff. Give me an empty room and it is a 2 day job - Day 1 ceiling - coffee - first coat on walls - lunch - 2nd coat on walls. Day 2 a couple of hours to do the gloss work.

I can't believe decorating is sullying this thread. It's the one potential DIY job I've refused to do for the last 20 years and would rather get someone in for.

Same here mate. It would take me about 5-6 days and look crap as opposed to paying someone to do it in two and it looks quality.

It's not necessarily that they're that much better. They're just much quicker and you aren't personally looking at every single square inch from 18 inches and seeing every little defect, like when you're doing it yourself.

Unfortunately my mate who does it all for me fell off a ladder 2 months ago and is still out

Fortunately I always help him so have picked up lots of tips

Got myself a bench ladder, game changer

Unfortunately got to put it all back at 7 for the wife as I'm working tomorrow then Sunday got 4 hours , 6 hours Monday and Thursday

Just Ubered KFC for lunch. Very useful id say. Whilst they got it I did another wall and soon as I'm finished I'm cracking on

I had to smile when I started to do certain areas in lockdown which I had previously paid for - the quality of the work when seen up close.

One thing I always hate with 'professional' decorators is the fact they do not loosen light switches and electric sockets and paint round the edges of them rather than under them. Lovely little 'trays' for light switches etc to sit as the paint layers build up - great if you can find the same one when they need replacing.

A super moon tonight. This is what happens when the moon is full and at its nearest to earth.
Depending on what time of year this occurs, each event is given a name like Hunter's Moon, Flower Moon etc.
When it happens in November it is called a Beaver Moon.

At about 9pm tonight the Beaver should be visible 4° north of Uranus, if you have a telescope or suitable binoculars. :geek:
