Hi All,

Cobra have a version of there AMP Driver with a 48" shaft.... Ridiculous in my opinion but they have not snuck it in like its a standard bit of kit et al Taylor Made, they have been totally upfront and said that this is there "Long Tom" version of the club. It features a shortened grip to reduce weight and make sure you don't chock it down. God only knows what the lie angle must be to house a 48" shaft.

When Mark Crossfield tested it he quite easily added 6 mph to his club head speed but was clearly scared of the thing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9DVCwYF3BTo

I actually think its a bit of fun but can not take it seriously as something you would want in your bag, they will sell a few of them though I am sure.

Your thoughts?

Alex

A little better with the black finish... Cobra is not really my cup of tea though.

Does it come with an orange grip and headcover like everything else Cobra?

Not in the same league I know, but it puts me in mind of the TM Superfast range.

Longer shaft, light weight etc.

I had the fairway woods (...... And hybrid for a time) and fond them long, but more often than not a inconsistant.

read about it in a mag. wouldnt mind a go at it for the craic. cant see me being very good with it as i think a smaller shaft on the driver would suit me. quite like the "straight out of the workshop unfinished finish"

It's hard to find a practice bay wide enough as it is! :( Might take the head off against the uprights a few times.

Re: The quickest way to add +/-6mph to your swing speed!!! Cobra Long Tom @ 48"

It might be faster (longer) on a machine but I doubt any actual real world players (unless superhumanly gifted) could control a club that long.

Seen them
Wouldnt dream of buying, ridiculously long shaft
A mate of mine , +1 golfer , tried it when the rep called at shop
Launched it miles, NEVER hit middle of club ONCE, and of the 6 shots, they all went off in different directions.....!!!!
Too long to control, for sure
The 'bare metal' driver that some refer to, is the RAW version, I believe its a limited edition
Standard model, all black
