Fulsome apology from WS (to the Academy, audience and viewers) for his behaviour and acknowledgement that it was wrong and that there are no excuses for his acting as he did. Some no doubt disagree with him.

He actually apologised almost immediately afterwards, during his acceptance speech. He simply ommitted Chris Rock from the apology. He then directly apologised to Chris in his latest statement.Fulsome apology from WS (to the Academy, audience and viewers) for his behaviour and acknowledgement that it was wrong and that there are no excuses for his acting as he did. It is pretty much what I have said elsewhere.Just on a slight alternate view to this. Alopecia is hard for anyone, but especially so for women. His wife is going to appear at one of the biggest events in the calendar and may have been agonising and self-conscious about how she looked. He may have spent time telling her it didn't matter, how beautiful she looked, and then someone comes along and says something like this. He could have just lost it at that time.
Also, we don't know if there is past history or bad blood between the two.
I'm not saying any of this is true, but just another slant on it.
Either way, for Rock to mock someone with this condition is 100% not on.
He's defo practiced that slap a few times throughout his acting career.
How has SHE humilated him?Shame she doesn’t seem to have a problem humiliating her husband for all the world to see ?
How has SHE humilated him?
She was the butt of the jokes, not him.

They do, and Chris Rock wasn't arrested for what he said. I doubt anyone sees him as a victim though. Even most of the Will Smith haters have also agreed the joke was pretty rubbish, so Rock has come out looking like a bit of an idiot as well.Don't americans bang on about free speach? That's until someone a says something they don't like!! Chris rock has come off as the victim. It would have made a bigger statement if Will and Jada just stood up and simply walked out. That would have been the end of Chris Rock
I don't see anyone launching an investigation into Chris's conduct during the actors. In fact, Chris rock has hardly been mentioned. It was a bad joke but so what!!They do, and Chris Rock wasn't arrested for what he said. I doubt anyone sees him as a victim though. You can call it what ever you like. I can't disagree with what you've said. The answer was simple. You don't like it leave!!! Imagine the headlines the next day "WILL WALKS OUT OF OSCARS BEFORE GETTING BEST ACTOR AWARD" That would have spoken volumes. The fact Will laughed at first also done him no favours. It wasn't just a bad" joke", it was cruel behaviour by someone with little talent to be genuinely funny. (And my definition of genuinely funny is the ability to make people laugh without being cruel to someone.)
It happens all to frequently these days, as Tash has eluded to.
Putting a label on behaviour as a "joke" does not excuse it - though some on here seem to think it does.
Ok, so I'm old, and so , old fashioned, I suppose. But there's a harshness and a callousness now in this Country, and that dismays me, and ,frankly, makes me somewhat ashamed .
That's what I mean, freedom of speech allows him to make that joke. But there are other consequences. If it is a bad joke and goes down like a lead balloon, he'd still be considered an idiot by the masses, not a victim.I don't see anyone launching an investigation into Chris's conduct during the actors. In fact, Chris rock has hardly been mentioned. It was a bad joke but so what!!
You are saying that assuming Will Smith planned his reaction. He clearly didn't. It was an irrational reaction. You can call it what ever you like. I can't disagree with what you've said. Said comedians will soon change their tone when they realise they're not being rebooked for events.
I personally didn't like the joke but you can't say what a comedian can and can't say because there will always be someone out there that finds offence with any joke
Yeah she’s a bit of a racist too but WS obviously loves her…
