Our pet JRT , Willow, has ruptured her cruciate and the vet has recommended surgery to rebuild the knee.
Has anyone had a dog go through this ?

Sadly he thinks the cause is degeneration so we can expect the other knee to go within a few years and of course the insurance won't cover this 😭

what sort of dog is it? some breeds this is quite common esp if the were neutered before full adulthood. i few guys i know with Cocker and springers have had this done.

I would suggest Jack Russel Terrier.

My Staffy had a floating knee cap, that meant he would ofetn go limp as the knee cap slide to the side and pulled on the tendons.
The vest wants £5k to open up and gring the bones so the knee cap didn't slide and stayed put.
They then said that as he was an active and strong dog, there was every chance he would need further surgery after.
I declined and put him on a glusosmine tablet every day. Occaisionally I had to massage his knee, but very rarely and I am so glad I didnt let them go invasive on him.
