Agreed! If somebody publicly made fun of the health issues someone I loved was dealing with, turning the other cheek would be the last thing on my mind!

You could see the pain on her face as the penny dropped about what Rock had just said. Personally, I applaud Smith for standing up for his wife like this.
Humour can be edgy, that's fine, but to make fun of a person's health condition in such a public way, when they are in the room so have no way to avoid the humiliation, is disgusting in my opinion.

I suspect that's why he b-slapped him and then walked away rather than punching him with a closed-fist. I however think, he should have just berated him without resorting to violence, it would have humiliated Rock more.
 
I think the problem is we’re now talking about the rights and wrongs of the slap, whereas we should all be criticising Chris Rock.

That wasn’t a joke, it was horrible. Really cruel. I can’t blame Smith for hitting him, but it wasn’t the best option. Far better would have been to berate him in his acceptance speech and afterwards with the media for his cruelty.
