The Open regional qualifying

With regard to Fincy.....do you think it has a detrimental effect on his game knowing that every shot is being filmed?
Is he able to completely detach himself from his YT self to a playing self.?
He must be used to it by now but I'm not convinced it's not going to damage his prospects.....
It's different to a Tour Pro who is always on camera..but not for their benefit..
Finch is on camera, at the end of the day, for his benefit and that must add pressure...

I imagine he's used to it by now and has worked out a way to keep it all filmed while he's in serious game mode. I haven't watched the vid from his qualifying round yet but I believe he wasn't miked up for it, so was effectively just a camera man (or two?) following him round while he gets on with it. I'm sure he wouldn't have wanted to distract any of the other players in his group either, as he usually comes across very respectful of all that.

In fact I wonder how many times he actually plays golf without it being on camera. Probably less than the amount that is.

It’s also his playing partners. He will seek permission and they’ll say ok, but they too have the cameras and his followers tagging on.

It’d put me off.

As much as I'm not a fan of Finch, it would be cool to see him qualify. Looking at the draw though and seeing some of the players who are vying for the spots, I just can't see it happening.

I’d like to see James Ruth, Max & Tyler Weaver, and Peter Finch qualify — it’s going to be hard of course, and dare I say it, incredibly hard in particular for Peter Finch, but I wish him well

Ruth and Finch obvs from YouTube, and I had a very tenuous connection to someone who’s now passed, the Weaver’s grandmother. Though I never met, and will never meet the Weaver boys.

Can’t see him qualifying with all the top players fighting for the same places, I just hope he gives a good account of himself and doesn’t have a meltdown hole (or more).

Got me thinking, do the top players discuss where they’re playing final qualifying to make sure they’re not all at the same venue, which would reduce their chances of progressing? Or do the players not get a say in where they’re playing final play?

I believe the organisers “spread them out” across the venues

Or, he has a tin cup moment, scored a 16(?) on a hole to prove he can carry the water. Now, that would be epic

I hope he comes in under par for the 2 rounds

Will be keeping an eye out for local golfer Habebul Islam from Ipswich GC playing at West Lancs... qualified T1 on 3 under at Moor Park....current index is +5.3

Doesn't seem to have played much at his home clubs in the last couple of years...most of his scores seem to be on the Clutch Pro Tour.

Will be interesting to see how he gets on.

+5.3 and he's not even on the Euro tour. It's a different game to what we play.

+1 after 10

Don’t think I’ve ever actually watched peter finch playing just some podcasts but he must have a bit about him to have made it this far. Big ask today mind you some players in that field at dundonald especially

Finch T13 and even par through 11 holes - that’s very impressive.
I was just going to say this was the last update I just saw:

10:00 am

Finch on +2

Peter Finch sits +2 after his first eight holes at Dundonald, a double bogey at the par-3 15th the only blemish on his card so far.

So he must have made two birdies since!
