The new Turnberry - is it worth the trip?

Seeing as I'll be in the area courtesy of GM in a couple weeks, is there anybody who fancies playing Turnberry on Friday 15th July?

I'm going to make an enquiry about availability tomorrow.

My daughter and a couple of friends have played it in the last two weeks.
All were very impressed with the changes, all saying it was playing easier. They played off medal tees and ladies tees.
The 5 handicap male played the 5 par 3's in 12 shots...bloomin impressive. Finished with an 80 with a lost ball.

All round here saying Trump has made a great job.
£200 million pound investment in quiet rural Ayrshire is a real boost to the local economy.

Have just been reading up on the changes made, seems like this have changed for the better. I have never played it but did visit last year for the womens open, and I enjoyed the walk around and looked like a fun course to play, can only imagine its better now.

As others have said its personal choice if the cost is worth it. It is out of my price range for a game of golf unless it was for a special occasion, when I'm older and things work out then maybe I'll get the chance to play it. But there are a few other courses on my list to play first.

Not sure - mid 2017? We will need time to plan the logistics of trip and need to give others time to plan work/family etc. I'd take advice on when to go, where to stay, other courses to play, weather -v- price etc

Wouldn't you stay in the hotel if your playing the course? 😂

No probs, we are just finalising our meet for next years venue and we are potentially looking at Trump for 2018 for our forum meet.

Value is in the eye of the buyer. Some people would pay £300 for a driver without batting an eyelid but baulk at a £50 green fee.

Think this sums it up perfectly. Cost is a very personal thing and what one man considers a drop in the ocean is a worldly fortune to others. Would I pay it? Definitely, providing I've not had to compromise to afford it. It domestic seem too far out of step with many other famous venues and for a chance to play it and sample the changes and beauty I consider it money well spent

Haven't read all the posts so please excuse if this has been covered earlier.

As a nipper I'd loved to have played Turnberry, but now Trump owns it I wouldn't accept a free round, let alone contemplate £195.00 to line his pockets.

I can't believe that he's got his grubby mitts on a part of our golfing heritage.

Makes me dreadfully sad. But of course everything has its price so not really surprised. :(

EDIT

Comments made not in context of Forum meets but relate purely to Trump's ownership of an iconic venue.
