The Masters 2026

Yep as a rory fan this is like best case but also worst case scenario

Completely in his hands is not where I want his head to be 😂
But isn’t that where last year’s win freed his mind? Haven’t the bottler anymore, he has done it and nothing to proof, or to win.

When he won last year it could go 2 ways. He is satisfied and done, or he is free. I hope we get free Rory.

Is this place getting into Bryson’s head a little bit? Or just a bit undercooked playing resort courses on LIV?
I think so - the same as people said Rory wanted it too much and couldn't produce his best golf for years until he finally got it over the line - Bryson is in that headspace now. Trying too hard and then all of a sudden the hooks come back.

Yeah this is a different Rory now he's already won one. He'll be far more relaxed and I don't think there's any chance he'll bottle it. He'll be finishing around 18 under and winning it at a canter.

I said the youth last night, Bryson needs to get out of the rabbit hole he's going down with his clubs - I get he's trying to find an advantage that nobody else has but he's just as likely giving himself a disadvantage that nobody else has.

The most impressive thing about Rory for me yesterday, was his temperament. Didn’t get carried away with the good stuff, didn’t get too frustrated with the bad stuff. Took his medicine, lagged the long putts up and took the pars, punched out of trees etc. But when he had chances he took them.

That was as impressive a round as I’ve seen in a long time.

As much as I don’t wanna be that guy! I’m totally in awe of how Rory’s playing and absolutely want him to go on and win it. The fact he’s so far ahead and if that maintains over next 2 days, it’s going to make for a pretty boring final 2 rounds as an overall competition. I love it when the majors are tight and they’re having to go into battle. A procession becomes a bit of a borefest.

I’d like to see Day, Reed and Brooks post some good numbers to at least make it closer, ultimately with a Rory win.

As for BDC any talk of it’s because of LIV courses is absolute tripe! He won the US Open on one of the hardest courses whilst playing LIV, Tyrell posted a hell of a number yesterday and he plays LIV. Bryson issue is Bryson himself getting caught up in technicalities and try to hard to find advantage instead of just playing.

This is pretty mad. Hitting fairways is definitely overrated. 😂

I went to bed when Rory was at -6, woke up with his bonkers back 9. I saw this stat and was wondering if anyone else had picked up on it. It's a wow stat.

I don't know if it's impressive for Rory or actually poor for Augusta as a course? You can spray it around and still stuff the course? Interesting stuff.

The thing is how many players can play the second shots Rory can?

He hits the ball so high he often can go over trees other players can’t.

I agree though it’s not a stat the Augusta officials will be proud of.

Don’t forget you can in the first cut with an almost perfect lie and it’ll go down as a missed fairway.

Plus on the Par 5’s he missed fairways then laid up in to oerfect pisitions to get a couple of birdies, but again the stats will go against his drive.

Sometimes the stats are pointless, there’s only 1 that counts.😬

The more interesting part of that stat would be where is he in driving distance for the week and how wide his misses are. Where he is for approach play as well, one stat like driving is pointless in itself without the others to back up the full picture.

‘Stats are stats’ and everybody above the age of 12 takes them with a pinch of salt…but I dunno…I kind of think driving accuracy absolutely ‘should’ be one of a few key parts of how well you score..

If Augusta is only really penal in its greens, and there’s no real penalty for missing fairways…well, that’s not the mark of a ‘best in the world’ course 🤷🏻‍♂️

Especially so when the green jackets decide to deluge the greens after round one because it’s too firm to soften it beyond belief 🙄

He also chipped in for birdie on 17 after missing fairway. 👍🏻

Yeah I think it would only be possible at the Masters. Very unlikely to see someone leading the US Open with that driving stat for example. Augusta doesn't have the deep rough. If you can navigate a few trees from pine straw you're fine.
