The Masters 2026

So long ago people forgot 😂

I know right? How quickly people forget that JJ Spaun was on fire going in to that tournament. He had a great 2025, was one of the strongest US players in the Ryder Cup too.

Brain Harman had a great build up to his Open win. Think he had 3 top tens in the 3 tournaments before the Open or something like that. I think he had finished 2nd place several times that season already.

Pretty common for a player to hit a rich vein of form for a season or two, bag a few wins, then retreat into the pack. It's no shock when that happens. What is amazing is how the very top players manage to sustain that winning form for a decade (or more).

Apologies if someone posted this already, I can't recall if I saw it here or not.

Would have fancied Morikawa if it wasn't for that recent back injury when I had my quid on him! Rahm has to be a strong favourite. Surprised to see Si Woo in that list to be honest, he's going under the radar a bit isn't he? Gotterup maybe a good outside bet.

And yet neither was fancied to win a major and nobody would be surprised if neither won a tournament ever again let alone a major. So they were still outsiders and completely unfancied to win those events 🙄

Given Brooks' results (see he missed the cut again), his putting must be at about my level :D

EDIT: to be fair they were better than I thought until this week; when I checked: he's had 3 Top20s in a row including the Players which is more than respectable.

I'm on a golf trip whilst this is on. We are currently running a sweep in draft form. 4 golfers, 5 picks each. We take it in turns to pick one golfer each, the turn is based on placings on our last trip. It's good fun, building the tension as your phone pings in the whatsapp group seeing who has been chosen, who is left.

So far it has gone Aberg, Scheffler, I have just chosen Rahm.

As we get further into the picks I will definitely be pinching ideas from those posted on here (y)

Takeing Aberg over Scheffler if you have the same winnings paid out on either choice is stupid bold!
The combined knowledge of the world, validated with real money is available to you through the market at Betfair etc.
No need for ideas; very simple method here is mathematically the best by miles; take the golfer with the lowest "to-win" odds remaining in the betting market. Repeat for every pick.

I thought the same to be fair. If someone had first pick of anyone and took Aberg they've had an absolute mare.

Scheffler could be off at any moment for the birth of his next child so i understand why the guy didn't go for him.

I'm surprised that you have not picked up, 3 picks and no one gone Rory yet. That is bolder imo, and I am part of that........😬

I personally would've gone for Rahm ahead of McIlroy as you did. Rahm's in great form, Rory maybe a little hit and miss by comparison? And given how long it took him to get the Masters under his belt, I'd be quite shocked if he got a 2nd back to back. (Defo taking him before Aberg though!)

The full list of golfers I'd have chosen before I got to Aberg: Scottie, Rahm, Rory, Bryson, Tommy, Morikawa. Probably Xander and maybe even Rosey as well.

I was thinking Tommy but his record there is not good. Does the course not suit him or is he just much better now?

He seemed to really go up a notch at the back end of last year - at that time I'd argue he was a top 3 player in the world. Perhaps he's dropped slightly from that at the moment. Maybe now he's won on US soil we'll see a different major performance from him, who knows.

Isn't this like admitting you can't be bothered doing your job correctly?

Surely as host to The Masters coverage, you'd spend a bit of time watching the players who you'll be expected to be up to date on...

I’m sure he will get by 👍

His job is to host The Masters and a seems to do it well in the little time we see him

I guess he prob hasn’t seen the Amatuers play as well

Not really! his job is to commentate on the Masters it’s irrelevant what golf he’s watched beforehand all he needs to do is comment on what he see during the round at hand.

No different to anyone that doesn’t watch every single bit of golf, soon as they tee it up at the masters we will all experts at commentating on what we’ve just watched. Only difference is he is better at it than us😂

I think it was an odd comment by Nantz. As a commentator you do your research and to state you haven't at this stage, odd. If you are that involved in golf, wouldn't you be looking at all possible contenders and knowing how they are playing?

Watching the Rory doc

It’s a decent watch

Brief history lesson on him as it goes through the front 9 then a lot more talk of shots when he gets to 10
