The Masters 2025

I'm putting the two opens top and the two others out of sight 2nd.
People are told they love the Masters, it's a triumph of wealthy Septic self-agrandissement and marketing.
The PGA is just a tour event with added choppers.
👍 On the last point - at least the PGA championship moves around courses. Regular tour events often stick on the same course year after year...
😉

Sergio has got to be worth a couple quid at 80/1 surely. Slim chance but that’s a great price given he’s clearly on a bit of form. Wouldn’t put it past him to have a good 4 days again

I had 20 quid on him at 40’s when he won it so maybe just dreaming of that again!

I'd go for some sort of a place, rather than the win tbh. Still pretty lucrative, I just don't think he's got it in him to beat Scottie and Rory. Would be happy enough to be wrong though.

It's 10 years since he won it and he was probably past his best then

Yep. 11 great players and Poulter.
Poulter did quite well at the Masters - for him by his standards.
He has made 16 starts, missed the cut once only and had 3 top ten finishes. In 2019 he finished 12th.
Rory has made 16 starts, missed the cut 3 times and had 7 top ten finishes. In 2019 he finished 21st.

However, Poulter never had a top ten finish in 16 attempts at the US Open.
Rory has had 9 top ten finishes, including one win and two runner-ups in 16 attempts at the US Open.

His putting is his weak area - if he get's the ball rolling well on the greens, he'll be hanging around the leaderboard, but at Augusta national, that's a big if.
Since he won in 2017 his best finish in the majors is T19

He has missed the cut 16 times

As the Masters since 2017 he has only made the cut once - missing it every other time

I don’t expect it’s going to change

The cursed and the damned this year are:
Bryson
Niemann
Henley
MacIntyre
Bhatia
Conners
R.Hojgaard

So avoid them like the plague as they'll probably all withdraw in the first round now, let alone miss the cut.

Always think that with inclement weather forecast at Opens and with the bad weather that Augusta can get, being in the ‘wrong’ half of the draw can kind of almost immediately eliminate half of the field from seriously challenging

EDIT: Just seen the forecast, seems like it’s fairly steady with sun and low winds for three days, with Friday rain all day but the wind speed doesn’t really change and is quite low on Day 2

We've definitely seen that at the Open but how often is the weather that influential at Augusta. It must have happened (strong winds a few years bacK?)
