I'm yet to play a course with one, as well as a game that was not just a friendly. But I would certainly consider using one if the situation called for it.

St Georges Hill in Autumn or Winter - Bovril with Sherry and Tabasco sauce! Lovely.
West Hill - cracking sausage sarnies.
Hindhead - very nice bacon sandwich.
Sunningdale in the middle of summer - pint of Pimms every time.
I love a good halfway hut and would always stop as it is a break from the game and a chance to have a chat. Not to mention try and chat up the girls in the hut! St Georges Hill girls in the hut are really pretty!

dont have one at my course but we always stop when I play at Brocket Hall with my dad, consumption depends on weather, can be coffee and a sausage bap, or water and an apple (ok the latter is very very rare lol)
Quite happy to stop for a refuel. Equally, if people prefer to play on I'm happy to do so. My last club used to hold a breakfast comp. Its rather nice to sit down for a full English and a pot of tea after 9.

I always stop at our half way hut, even if it is only to get a soft drink. On a very hot day it is great to get a cooling ice cream, before they sell out.It is also nice to support the lady that runs it, and she always has a few dirty jokes ! Usually have a bacon or sausage sandwich. If I go too long without food I get a migraine, so that's my excuse and I am sticking to it. Does add an extra ten minutes to the round but not bothered, and if the people behind are not stopping we just let them through.
Being the first group out really helps in getting there before the ice creams sell out too. I'll be honest I've never had a better tasting ice cream!
I always stop if there's one. Always nice to grab a drink (when I carry, it's nice to not have to carry all the water I need for the entire round if possible) and re-coup for a minute or two.

Played St Georges Hill twice last year, and both times the halfway hut was closed.
Presumably the pretty young ladies had taken fright on seeing us and scarpered.
Bearwood Lakes has a very good one, with huge bacon rolls.
I like that idea!

If the course has them always stop - although usually just for a cuppa and something to eat on the move, unless the majority of groups stop in which case it bacon sarnie time.
Do you honestly expect me to believe you managed to resist the olfactory temptation of the halfway hut/burger van on your way to victory at Ballyliffin last year? I know I wasn't able to, but then again, not sure I got 30 points in either round!

The halfway hut doesn't open on a Tuesday, ladies day, as none of the ladies stop. Their tee is not as close as the mens, at least thirty yards away.:mmm:

I love the Dundonald way. The telephone is on the 9th tee which connects to the clubhouse. You simply order and the usually very attractive young lady is waiting on the 10th tee with your order.

We must have the same lady members Anthony. Clare in the halfway hut was telling us about the ladies asking her for boiling water. It is a real cheek as the hut is not even run by the club.
Ah the halfway hut as only the dear Irish could do....................it was on the 11th!
Bloody great burger is was mind,got the sugar levels back up as the alcohol began to seep out.

Ours takes our orders before we tee off the first, then we just collect and pay for it between 9 and 10.
I've never seen a group walk straight past it, but I've also never seen anyone stop to eat. Get what you want then eat while you carry on playing.

Archerfield insist (politely) that you stop for 10 minutes, suppose it means gaps are kept between groups.It's pretty bloody good too.
The best one I've used is at Aloha near Marbella.A cheeky wee beer in the sun is braw.

If it's open I will always stop. it's only civilised. There is nothing better on a summers day as a mid round ice cream or in the winter something warming.
It may be bad luck on my part but a few have been closed recently even a peak times.

Can say hand on heart i did not use the van in question either day your honour .. chris can vouch for sat & smange for the sun.. few years back in Glasson G&C club i was playing rather well , i indulged & played crap the back 9 so i blame that (cant be blaming myself like).. in saying that i dont mind people grabbing stuff & eating on the go , its this 10/15 min break thing , ill give the said van a visit this year if i make it up that way... just for reference like..

I think it does depend on where the 9th and 10th tees are situated, if close to the clubhouse then probably no need to have one.
I've always thought it a good idea to have a refreshment cart on the course, usually around the 9-10th holes and further out if it's a really hot day.
They have one at Darenth Valley Golf Course in Kent and always use it when I play there.

Competition days, (sat) and Sunday mornings we have a volunteer selling tea/coffee 40p, choclate bars 50p. soft drinks 50p, sausage rolls 50p and a variety of rolls £1 each. about 10 yards away from the tee so takes about 3/4 minutes for a group of us to get served
