Re players that cannot control a ball. Sterling, Lordy flippin Lordy. If a ball was played to him, he always had to flick it up and then control it. It used to drive fans barmy. Mahrez on the other hand was a genius. It’s the same now with Doku and Cherki. That first touch is unreal. It gives them a second or two to make decisions without being closed down.

The best first touch I've ever seen was either from Berbatov or Bergkamp, both magical.

I think it’s when you see players like that. They stand out a mile. I once saw Utd batter City at Maine rd ( again). Whilst warming up. Veron and Beckham were knocking balls 60 yds across field to one another. The precision and first touch was astonishing.

The weird thing was neither of them had pace but always seemed to have time on the ball.
It’s like the game slowed down when they had it.
Cantona was a little bit similar.
Wonderful players with amazing football brains.

Best I’ve ever seen live was Maradona the balls he could pluck out of the air were joke. However the best I’ve seen in the premier league were the 2 you mention they could take a ball coming at them at any speed and just make it do what they wanted instantly absolutely different class.
