Hello mods. I just realized my post re the Hibs sending off should have gone in the Scottish football thread instead of here (apologies), and was about to ask that you move it there but I see it has gone from here but hasn’t (yet?) appeared in the Scott thread .?

Commentary in the Chelsea - Leeds semi final used the well worn phrase "dead ball specialist".

So referring to someone who can kick the ball well when it is not moving.

What are players doing on the pitch if they are not adept at kicking a stationary ball? Is it easier to kick a ball that is moving?
In fairness, it isn't just referring to a player who can kick a ball well when stationary

It is referring to a player who can kick a ball and frequently avoid a wall of 6ft+ players and have it find the net with enough pace and power to beat one of the top goalkeepers in world football.

It probably isn't easier to kick a moving ball. But then that is why players like Mark Hughes got glowing reputations for their volleying skills

It’s not necessarily a question of tactics and motivation: the problem could be “raw material “
Leave Parker as manager imo. He got them up, won the league well. See if he starts next year strongly and let him take them up again. He may be better prepared next time, Burnley might buy better in the following summer.

Agreed.
Sometimes I think clubs need a reality check.
It’s massive to get promoted to the prem,it’s even bigger to stay up.

Yeah.....I know that....and I'm pretty sure you knew that I know that, and that I was just being a tad facetious ;)
