Alan Kennedy?
Forgot about him. Good shout.
Alan Kennedy?
I'm pretty confident my Liverpool supporting family would all go for Kennedy.Forgot about him. Good shout.
Steve Nicol often gets overlooked as he played everywhere.I'm pretty confident my Liverpool supporting family would all go for Kennedy.
People also forget Emlyn Hughes was a left back who moved to the centre under Bob Paisley, Hughes played left back for England as wellI'm pretty confident my Liverpool supporting family would all go for Kennedy.
My wife’s Liverpool supporting family would all agree that it’s Kennedy.I'm pretty confident my Liverpool supporting family would all go for Kennedy.
How so? Seems a pleasant enough guy.John Arne Riise or Joey Jones would probably be my picks. But that’s probably because I’m not desperately keen on Robertson as an individual.
I know nothing about Kennedy (before my time), except my mate Mitch, real name Alan Kennedy, was named after the Liverpool player. He and his family are huge Liverpool fans, so I'd guess Alan Kennedy would be their top pickI'm pretty confident my Liverpool supporting family would all go for Kennedy.
He is a legend for us![]()
I think choices like these are generational. Although I didn’t see much of Emlyn Hughes at left back, he was, in my opinion, head & shoulders above anyone mentioned so far. Equally, I feel Robertson often flattered to deceive. He could be great one week, then nondescript the next.
Im not disagreeing with you Phil as it’s your opinion but for me the word legend gets used far too often now and it dilutes the achievements of those that really are legends.Always be generational - Hughes had left by my time ,
Kennedy was left back growing up and he would be many people’s favourite, Nicol was also outstanding, Robertson has been there for 9 years and won the lot as well , was a huge figure for the way Klopp wanted to play
There is no right or wrong answer but I think for many he will be remembered as a club legend
Thought you were older than me (I'm 55) and I certainly remember football in the 70s, it was when I started going to matches. He was at Liverpool until 1979. And Hughes is one of the players I remember as he was Player/Manager for Rotherham in the early 80s.Always be generational - Hughes had left by my time ,

In my opinion if Robertson was to be called a club legend then Liverpool would have hundreds if not thousands of them.
Out of interest how many of the current squad would you say are legends?
For me a legend is someone that gets in the greatest team of all time that club. So using Liverpool as an example VVD doesn’t even get close.Current squad - VVD , Mo and Alisson
For me when someone looks at what a legend of the club is it’s someone who wouldn’t look out of place in any of the successful teams we have had and the club have been fortunate over the years to have had a lot of amazing players that will be remembered by fans for years
Just have to look at when they do the players that shook the Kop

So including Robertson that’s 4 of the current squad in your opinion.Current squad - VVD , Mo and Alisson

Let’s say that’s the same for every prem team then we have 80 legends currently playing premier league football.
And that is what dilutes it for me.
There has to be levels between solid player and legend.
Last year Trent left don’t forget him.Don’t forget, it’s only a few weeks ago we were being told James Milner was a legend.
Rumour has it one of the ball boys will be named next…![]()

There’s no way he’s better than Hansen, Neal, Thompson, Lawrenceson, Yeats etc. He’s a great player but he’s no legend, recent bias will always take precedence though as people only think of the era they watched. But then for me there are probably only 4 or 5 truly legendary footballers in history.
