Not the worst 1st half I’ve seen from England, Japan working really hard and look decent on the break, could be 1-1, but could also be 0-2.

Hate to say it, but I really don’t see 1 World Class player in that England XI, yes we have quality, but none of the outfield players look capable of taking command out there.

Elliot looks solid, White’s had a few good touches and OReilly has been our furthest forward player at times😵‍💫

Foden, Gordon, Cole, Mainoo, all trying to beat 3-4 players or fancy flicks and they are getting knocked off the ball too easily.

Looking at the drawn groups I think that this coming WC will be an absolute dirge, lacking any interest, jeopardy or excitement until the "round of 16".

Normally I'd be looking at the fixtures, identifying "must see" games and the "like to see" games, figuring out who was broadcasting what games, determining if there were fixture clashes between games I anted to watch but...

...the group fixtures for the forthcoming event are so utterly diluted, with all the "big" nations separate from each other and with 8 of the 12 teams who finish third also making it through to the "round of 32" there is absolutely no risk for any team who would be expected to make it through. Of the 72 group fixtures, if you exclude the home nations, there are probably only 10 that I would make an "organised effort" to watch.
One of the main problems with modern football is the breaks in play, mainly due to VAR. We now know there will be three minute “ drinks breaks” during each half. Load of crap. It’s for the tv to show adverts. I am another that’s not showing a great deal of interest.

So glad Tuchel signed a new contract with the FA rather than heading to United.

I thought England were boring under Southgate. This is another level entirely.

Absolutely hideous football.

Chelsea and Villa were both fined by UEFA for the same thing.👍🏻

They’ll of known they’d of risked a UEFA fine.

No big problem for the richest club in the world. 😬
I mean I must’ve missed that. But the point stands though doesn’t it, Real haven’t been sanctioned, Barca have how much debt but that’s ok and then there’s the other bigger clubs that have done the same.

It’s embarrassing as they’re not consistent it’s as and when suits them to prove a point.

Barca and, I think, Lille were also fined.

Fact is UEFA financial rules differ to the Premier League PSR, so they all know they can “push the boundaries” with our rules as it can cost points, UEFA’s punishments don’t include that.

Highlights further issue then imagine how much simpler if it was standardised across football governing bodies. One set of financial rules so everyone knows where they are.

I agree, but the Clubs know the rules and regulations they have to meet for both ruling bodies and so I really don’t have any sympathy for them.

Well, I stuck with it! 2nd half we had more possession, more chances and couldn’t take them or use it.

Got to give credit to Japan, had all 11 behind the ball at times and had 2 - 3 players closing down on the edge of the box every time.

We really struggled and I’ve no idea how he’ll change it.

If fit my guess for his starting XI in the first WC match would be:

Pickford

James
Guehi
Konsa (Maguire)
Hall (Shaw)

Bellingham
Rice
Anderson
Rogers

Kane
Saka

The ones in brackets would be my choice, biggest issue for me is left back, other option would be 3 at the back with Stones coming in and pushing James forward in to a midfield 5.

Pure guess work as the more I watch England the more I’m convinced it’s the foreign players in our club sides that make the English players look better.
