Well played Stuart Attwell. Another headline grabbing performance.

Regardless of whether he’s on the field officiating or tucked away in the VAR booth, he manages to get decisions horribly wrong.

So Osimhen ended up with a fractured arm from the challenge with Konate

So of course in modern society and social media he is then subjected to racist abuse from Galatasaray fans

And Galatasarays response is

The club and the player are making it all up and it’s just “imaginary” statements to deflect from Liverpool causing injury to Lang who needed surgery 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Galatasaray’s General Secretary 😂😂

Obvious penalty for Bournemouth. But was the foul any more obvious than the one on Amad!? And the foul on Amad was right next to the referee.

They were almost identical challenges for me, in terms of level of contact. You simply cannot give one and not the other. To have two such similar incidents with polar opposite outcomes in the same game is an absolute joke.

But, as I have already alluded to, we can’t expect any more from a referee of Attwell’s level of incompetence. He’s probably the worst out there.

Nailed on penalty for Utd as a result of that foul on Amad. More contact than the Maguire challenge which was also a penalty by the way

Agree the challenges are the same.
Pushing and shirt pulling don’t seem to be fouls nowadays but some are ???
Shocking refereeing but I’m not suprized.

Macallister goal midweek was a farce as VVD beat the keeper without touching him.!
So not just PL refs..
VAR 🤬 not fit for purpose.

Standards are very poor but he will be in the middle next week nothing to see here!

So once again we moan about VAR, which can be justifiable, however, after the Amad decision B’Mouth went down the other end and scored.

Now, the reason they scored wasn’t because the penalty wasn’t given it was because of the awful defending by Utd, to give the B’Mouth players that much room at the edge of the box was ridiculous, really poor defending.

The 2nd Utd goal Amad pushes their keeper (loads of other pushing going on) and you get a lucky deflection.

This isn’t an anti-Utd post it’s more the fact fans focusing on one element of the game rather than the 90 minutes.

As a nuetral, Utd deserved the 3 points, but didn’t lose 2 to one decision.

That’s the thing - there is no right or wrong when it’s subjective but just need consistency
This ^^^
Compare the 2 Utd penalties,
Cunha, 100% penalty, big pull on the shirt, but Cunha’s legs buckle and he goes down like he’s shot, probably exaggerated the fall to help the case, but should not be needed.

Amad, contact in the box, goes down with a twist, commentators not sure if it was contact on foot or shoulder.

Cunha, or any player, should not need to exageratte that foul.

Amad, imo, looks like he threw himself.

That was the difference for me, there was definitely contact, but is it enough to be a foul?

Not even every shirt pull is given in a match as there seems to be some sort of level of how much pulling is allowed so players themselves are unsure.

A very simplistic view, Paul.

If the second decision when Amad was clearly fouled in the box when Attwell was ten feet away with a clear and unobstructed view had been given, the poor defending you describe would never have been an issue because the ball would have been on the penalty spot down the other end of the pitch.

I’m not sure there are any moans about VAR. The VAR would not even have been required for that decision if not for the fact Stuart Attwell is an incompetent buffoon.

Carrick hit the nail on the head for me. Take the Bournemouth penalty totally out of the equation. Looking at the foul on Cunha and the one on Amad alone, by giving two different decisions Attwell MUST have got one of them wrong. They were either both penalties or neither of them were.

Forget VAR. The on field official last night is an embarrassment, and it’s not the first time.

Amad’s shirt wasn’t pulled, Ref had clear unobstructive view for both, Amad threw himself and as much as I agree there was contact, there wasn’t enough for a penalty imo.

As for the defending, what’s the old saying? “Play to the whistle”

Where is the line drawn for impeding a goal scoring opportunity? If it’s not enough to to stop a player but enough to put him off balance, surely it’s still a foul?

There’s got to be some rough and tumble, especially on a 50-50 ball, but…

The complaints were in relation to the decision made by the onfield referee.
