Cruel. You could easily have been a couple clear. Naivety at the end

I hope you don't go to their place and look to defend. Do that and you'll lose. Tonight has shown you can expose Barcelona, definitely down the wings.
Yep...if we dont get carried away, look to expose them with pace, make sure we stay in the game. I dont know if Barca simply played at half pace tonight...I'm sure they can be much better...but they really only looked a fraction of the City side that picked us apart on Saturday night...perhaps that was a function of them knowing that they had a game at home to come...but I thought they might have offered more tonight.

As you say...go in with the wrong approach and the game will easily slip away...once you go behind against such teams its difficult to get back in the game.

Barcelona are quite badly managed IMO. They play with a high line that would make Big Ange blush 😅

Can't see Newcastle getting through now after blowing it tonight.

Watching Barcelona tonight (and against Chelsea earlier this season), realistically I don’t think they would finish in the top half of the premier league.

Interesting question… How many teams across Europe would actually survive in the premier league? I honestly don’t think that many would… there seems to be an enormous gulf in quality, physicality, playing styles etc.

I think physicality is the main thing but those players would bulk up and adapt. It happens on an individual basis now, Wirtz is an obvious one, but it would happen across a team.

English teams are strong in the CL but we aren't winning it every season. We shouldn't be too arrogant about things.

I wonder if those in charge at Spurs will bite the bullet and sack Tuder.
It’s such a toxic atmosphere now I can’t see any improvement under Tuder, coming out after the second game and criticizing the players so much was always going to anger the players, the writing was on the wall for all to see from that point.

I see Pochettino was at the game if he is thinking of coming back I can’t see him wanting to manage in the championship, so imo Tuder should go today and get someone in time for the Forest game.
We wont get anything from Sundays game.

Regarding Spurs and their relegation fight. Will several players actually have an incentive for Spurs to be relegated?

If Spurs stay up, players who have a few years left on their contract will likely have to stay, and what is the likelihood Spurs will improve significantly next season?

Whereas if Spurs get relegated, some of these players will get cheap transfers to PL clubs. Some players may attract clubs near top of the table, as discussed on here the other day.
This is the problem when a 'bigger' club gets dragged into a relegation battle, and the reason pundits always say the players won't be cut out for it. A lot of the supposed 'better' players might be thinking "if this club goes down then I'm off" so it doesn't really affect them. And that's why it's so hard to get out of it when you're down there - several managers now have failed to get them performing since they simply don't care.

Both shocking appointments. Spurs used to be ambitious, these days they're going for mid table managers.
That's what Pochettino was when he was appointed. And top-level managers like Mourinho and Conte clearly weren't suitable since we don't spend the money they were accustomed to spending. So what other type of manager is left?

Yeah, I was thinking of some of their higher profile players, who still have some respect amongst some of the top PL clubs.

van de Ven, contracted until 2029 and earning £90,000 a week. Spurs get relegated, he might think it vastly increases the odds a club like Liverpool will come for him, cheaper fee, and give him £150,000 - £200,000 a week.

Gallagher signed for £160,000 a week until 2031. OK, he might struggle to get that wage, but could Spurs keep him as that salary if they get relegated? And so could he get a pretty tasty offer from another big club?

Other players that might think they could get an upwards move could be Kudus, Palhinha, Porro, Gray, etc. I don't know the quality of the Spurs players very well, but there seems to be a big enough chunck of that squad that consist of players that may think relegation will ehnhance their opportunities of getting a good transfer in the summer.

Spurs getting a new manager now almost feels like a false economy, the players look like they downed tools months ago and hoping for that "new manager bounce" just doesn't seem like its going to happen. Of all the teams down the bottom they're the most in danger as there seems to be no fight, no wanting to drag the club through this, they all look like they're already working on getting out of a sinking ship.

For someone like Gallagher who's just joined, there is always the option of sending him somewhere on loan for a year, then if you do manage to get promotion at the first attempt, he can simply come back into the team again in the Premier League.

Palhinha is only on loan from Bayern so don't need to worry about him. I'm sure Porro would leave along with Romero and Van de Ven. I hope someone like Gray would stay, knowing he'll play every game, rather than move to a bigger club and stagnate on the bench. He seems like a good character that might want to do that. Hopefully the same goes for Bergvall, and Vuskovic who's been on loan in Germany and getting rave reviews.

Kudus, I don't know, when fit he's probably too good for the Championship. He was one of the few bright sparks, particularly early in the season. Simons & Tel will probably go back to Europe. Richarlison to Saudi or Brazil. Udogie & Vicario back to Italy. Solanke is an interesting one, I think he'd be very good in the Championship if we can hold onto him, but there would be mid-table Prem clubs interested. Kulusevski is miles too good for the Championship, even though he's just missed an entire season - unless this injury has ruined him, which is possible I guess.

Exactly, as discussed, they all think they're too good for it and will simply leave when the club goes down. Maybe they should all be forced to stay and play Championship football to teach them a lesson.
