Nah, you’ve been peddling that “62” for years… ;) :ROFLMAO:

On another note, the game has evolved. Better pitches, who can forget the Baseball ground, better fitness, better coaching etc.

My biggest gripe is the wrestling. The holding in Arsenal’s game was on a level I’ve not seen before. I don’t care if it’s 6 of one, half a dozen of another get the cards out.
There’s lots I don’t like Bri, but I see every team doing it, every player trying to cheat and it’s sad the way has evolved, but no one is whiter than white and some of these proposals to cleanse the game will take it even further from the game we love.

Winning is the aim of those on the pitch.

But when I go to games I pay for ninety minutes’ football. Not sixty. I get there will always be delays and that the ball isn’t always in play, but thirty minutes is absolutely farcical.
Best not mention Fergie time eh!

Billy we’d all love to see 90 minutes of fast flowing attacking football, but those days have never been and never will be.

The game has moved on and for those of us who yearn for the past are going to keep yearning.

The Media, money has spoilt the game.

Mate, added time is not the issue here, so Fergie time isn’t really relevant.

I think there’s more backpasses now !
It’s just keepers are like sweepers now.
Grobbelar used to do that for Liverpool, he was the first I can remember.

The difference is that the opposition can get the ball from them if it is on the floor. In the past they picked it up and that was that. Bounce it 5 times and off you go. It goes back to a keeper now and you have a chance with it, as we see throughout the season.

Why was it added on? Time wasting maybe?

If you can point me in the direction of any game involving United under Ferguson where there were thirty minutes of added time, you may have a point. Until you can do that, bringing “Fergie Time” into this discussion is little more than a cheap dig.

I don’t disagree that the game has moved on, and that it differs considerably from a few short years ago.

But no change justifies the sort of nonsense we are subjected to. I was at a game at Old Trafford a few years ago, against Leeds I think it was, and they went a goal ahead very early on. They spent the next 85 minutes or so trying every trick in the book to waste time. For a match going fan, it absolutely sucks all of the enjoyment out of being at a game.

I don’t care about media, money, or anything else. I want to watch football. And beyond games involving United I really am only a casual viewer these days, because it’s just not fun any more.

Isn’t the 4th Official responsible for “watching the clock”?

Maybe the PGMOL just need to give them clearer direction, but as I said there’s plenty of ways to waste time with the ball in play.

Just stop! There’s no cheap digs here, it’s a civilised discussion.

Fergie was very good in pointing out the time wasting making sure the Officials recognised it, everytime time was added and complaints were made the time wasting was pointed out.

From a Leeds fans point of view they’d of been over the moon to beat Utd and would not of cared how they achieved it, it was always the argument when Arsenal went 1-0 up and defended, it’s up to the other team to break them down. Same as when City dominated.

Do you believe for one minute N’Castle fans care about the previous 89 minutes last night? No, not for one minute will they care.

Maybe you were spoilt supporting Man Utd during their time at the top, but I can see both sides, Teams look to beat the best by employing whatever tactics it takes.

Calm down, Paul. It’s supposed to be a civilised discussion 😉

For me, just severely penalise the cynical fouls, inc shirt pulling, wrestling & time wasting. Teams are trying to win/draw games by other means than genuine football.

Also, there are a few(?) rules I’d change. Handball: if it hits a hand/arm, it’s handball. I don’t care if it’s accidental. Offside; do away with it totally. Why was the offside rule created? It stops the excitement of an attack… Dissent; only the captain to talk to the ref. Stop the mobbing, attempting to bully & influence the officials.

You mean like Rugby that plays on after full time until the ball goes dead.🙄
At least you know that when the ball goes dead then the game is over - everyone is aware and informed, not this +x minutes which means nothing at all - no one has a clue how long is left.
Also the crowd (as well as the players) know when the clock is stopped. Simple technology that’s been around for years which informs the spectators, warns the players and helps the game.
Unbelievable that football is so behind the times.

If it was a clean sheet, absolutely go along with some of what you’re saying.

The constant need to win at any cost has destroyed the game, I can’t/won’t walk away from it, so I just accept it’s not what we want any every team is the same.

I do think most of what it would take to sort a lot of the issues out are already there, but it needs a buy in from the Clubs and a few seasons of pain, and I just don’t see them as willing to do it.

For us it’s a sport, but for the owners it’s a business.
