I think the loss of Diaz and to a lesser degree Nunez is overlooked.
Forget ability both worked their socks off which often forced the opposition into mistakes and also gave Salah more room.
Add to that the loss of Jota and that’s 3 attacking players not available this season that all contributed heavily to how the team played last season and in my opinion are actually missed more defensively than attacking wise

Losing Diaz was key imo - he added pace and width

That’s the player we didn’t really replace properly - Jota also

Doesn’t help with Isak not being available and Wirtz always going to take time

If we kept Diaz then I think we would be more dynamic going forward

100%. He is 10 times the player Gakpo is.
Although to be fair I reckon I’m 5 times the player Gakpo is.
His attitude drives me crazy.

I think losing Nunez didn’t help as although he was not a good finisher he did get a lot of chances and caused chaos in opposition defences and worked like a dog without the ball.

Been a lot of times this season he would of been really handy to throw on with 30 minutes left

I think he is lazy, he won’t track a full back until it’s too late and won’t mark anyone so his opponent is always available to be passed to.
Once they receive it he will then jog over towards them.

Occasionally he will pop up with a decent goal but most opponents know he is going to cut back onto his right foot and are prepared for it.

I think Diaz covered for him a lot last season.

Selling Diaz looked a mistake at the time but even more so now. He's miles better than Gakpo and as you said, not been replaced. He did seem to have a fair few injury issues and the money from Bayern was good, so you could understand to a degree why he was sold.

I'm sure Wirtz and Isak will come good but I think you need two wingers and a centre back over the summer. Get those and you'll be back fighting for the title. The issue is those players cost serious money and are hard to find or prize away from their clubs.

Ngamoa for one at least give him 45 mins.

I’d rather he played a few of the kids at least they would put the effort in.

IMHO the problem is the manager.

The players don’t look interested.
There is a big problem in the dressing room.
Most of the match going fans I know want Slot gone asap.
It’s dire to watch.
