Bit over the top to be honest. It's the nature of football that players are commodities and deals fall through all the time.

That’s just rubbish, he’s playing regular football for his Country, one of the best managers’s in the world comes in for you and you say he’s made a poor choice, behave.
Every single footballer in his position would of made the same choice.
There are Palace fans all over social media saying the same thing - so when it's coming from your own fans, you know it's not good.Bit over the top to be honest. It's the nature of football that players are commodities and deals fall through all the time.

Plus Parish has form on not being very good at admin![]()
So it was a good choice to move and then never play at all losing your England place and spending most of the time bouncing other teams and ending up in the championship![]()
Hindsight and all that.

It’s a judgementThat’s hindsight!
Please explain how he made a poor choice without using hindsight. It’s a judgement
He made a poor choice at the end of the day
Wasnt the first and won’t be the last

He may look back on his decision to join City as a bad choice going on what’s followed, but at the time I’d of guessed he truly believed it was the right choice.I’m not sure we need to start any back and forth - it’s very clear that moving to City killed his career and ultimately the player made the choice to move , as I said he probably looked at it as a good career move financially and on the pitch but it’s turned out to be the worst move for his career on the pitch
Players seem to over-estimate their own ability time and time again. Anyone looking at Phillips moving to City would have thought he was just taking the money to sit on the bench and play League Cup games, because he had absolutely no chancing of displacing a player like Rodri from the team. Phillips must have backed himself though I guess. Please explain how he made a poor choice without using hindsight.
I totally agree, but good luck to any player who gets the chance and has that self belief.Players seem to over-estimate their own ability time and time again. It's almost never a good idea for a young English player to move to City or Chelsea. You can count on one hand the number that have succeeded, whereas the list of names that have vanished and basically had to restart their careers, is endless.
I see James Trafford didn't get his move this window.
It wasn't in City's interests to let him go in January. I'd be amazed if he doesn't move in the summer though. Newcastle is the obvious place for him. They wanted him before City invoked the buy back, they still need a new number 1.I see James Trafford didn't get his move this window.
It is over the top from our point of view. As such a thing is pretty much a non-story, or forgotten in a day or two.Bit over the top to be honest. It's the nature of football that players are commodities and deals fall through all the time.
Would love him to come to Spurs. Vicario seems to lurch from making the most incredible reflex save you've seen, to being flummoxed by a simple cross. It wasn't in City's interests to let him go in January. And all you get in exchange is £50,000+ a week. So unfair. It is over the top from our point of view. As such a thing is pretty much a non-story, or forgotten in a day or two.
But, in fairness, from the point of view of the player and his family, it can be monumental. Clubs see them as pawns, and us fans will often see them as pawns. But, they are real people that have lives to live. If you have spent a good amount of time planning to make major changes in your life, and then at the last second it all falls through because the people that were making all the guarantees suddenly pulled the plug (with no warning or explanation), I'm sure it can feel like a dagger to the heart. You go from having a guaranteed salary for the next 4-5 years, to being uncertain again as to what the future brings.
If we believe mental health should be directly related to salary, then you are correct.Would love him to come to Spurs. Vicario seems to lurch from making the most incredible reflex save you've seen, to being flummoxed by a simple cross.

How is that any different to someone being made unemployed because the company they work at is going bust or relocating to another country? It is over the top from our point of view. As such a thing is pretty much a non-story, or forgotten in a day or two.

It is no different. I wasn't trying to say that their circumstances are worse than a person in the scenario you mentioned. How is that any different to someone being made unemployed because the company they work at is going bust or relocating to another country?
He staill has his job, just not at the next step on the ladder he wants to climb.
