I don't think you need to worry about looking down. Phenomenal season.

I do genuinely think we are safe, but the table is so compact that a few points difference makes a big difference in position and a win tonight just keeps a bit of breathing room. The earlier we know we are safe the more we can plan for next year

Speaking of Sheff Utd, I hear Kalvin Phillips has gone there.

Talk about a career that was absolutely ruined by joining Man City

Bit harsh on clubs like Burnley, Sheff Utd or other similar type clubs. As a fan of a smaller club it’s amazing to have ambition and dreams, but considering the gulf in income generated week in, week out by premier league revenue and TV money it’s never been harder for such teams to crack the top division and stay there.

Whilst you get the odd one or two that manager it there’s always going to be more that bounce around whilst their best players are taken from them and have to stick to budgets in line with PSR and financial constraints. With increasing wages and transfer fees even parachute payments aren’t enough to keep them up but do mean lesser teams get held down so the likes of Burnley et al YoYo back and forth between divisions.

Went from being a regular in the England squad to disappearing

Think they are going the same way as Wolves now so would it be a good idea to get a new man in now rather than wait or will they stick with Parker next season as well?

Not really, he was never good enough to play for City imo. It was always a huge puzzler why Pep signed him.

Think they are going the same way as Wolves now so would it be a good idea to get a new man in now rather than wait or will they stick with Parker next season as well?

They are resigned to getting relegated anyway. Not sure what his contract is, but might as well stick with him until end of season, then take it from there. Probably already planning for next season in Championship

Yes, I agree he was never good enough for city. That’s why I think his career was ruined by joining them.

It was always a puzzle buying Phillips, bottom line he was bought as an understudy for Rodri, yet he is was miles off that standard. Trouble is he has had a loan move or two and it has never worked out for him either.

Exactly. He has hardly sparkled away from City. Poor signing. Probably flattered to deceive and wasn't all that as it turned out.

Pep doesn’t get many wrong in all fairness, when Philips signed he was an England international tipped to be the next big thing.

Pity it didn’t work out for City and England.

He did look good for England. Can't remember who he had around him at the time? Maybe not good enough to be THE central midfielder gluing a team together.

Depends who is available now. This time of year, manager options are much more limited as most are in a job, and clubs more likely to fight to keep them. End of season, more options open up.

If the right man is available now, go for it. However, maybe they already believe Parker is the right man, for the Championship?
