When the disallowed goal was shown from behind the goal both myself and my Mrs thought it would be harsh on Newcastle if it was allowed.
But when they started with the jokers looking at it we both thought it would be harsh on city if it wasn't given ,he didn't look offside to us .

Am not sure who commented on Newcastles last couple of long games of late but they looked a bit leggy towards the end.
'Twas me.

At the end of the day not a bad effort but clearly up against a different class of player (even though City made many changes). City's ability to keep possession and always have two passes on and the way they move around the pitch creating options for the man on the ball is what sets them apart from most teams. Its not just physical fatigue either...its the mental challenge of staying focused that is also draining.

Still... City join good company with only Barca, Liverpool and Arsenal winning at St. James' this season.

Coming back in the second leg from a 1-0 deficit would have been do-able....but 2 down...nah, it aint happening.

Lets hope the players can get some good rest and recuperation in before travelling to Wolves on Sunday....will be a tough game as wolves have shown a bit of fight and quality in recent weeks. Going to need some squad juggling though with a crucila CL tie at home to PSV on the following Wednesday....need to win that to ensure we make the play-off matches. Tope 8 is unlikely given we need to go to PSG in the final game.

After another game and more pages complaining about VAR. I honestly don’t know why you put yourselves through this constant torture. Be brave and stop watching. Trust me you will all feel better for it. Trust me

But then everyone will spend every weekend wondering if there’s been a VAR controversy. Surely that would be even worse than knowing there’s been one and getting in a tizzy about it.

If we did this we would all give up golf as well.😂

Haalands foot is offside.😳
He’s 50/50 holding with the defender imo.
But don’t think he or Pope could react to the goal.

If your on the goal line your interfering imo and can see why they disallowed it.
But we’re down to centimetres now it’s a bit of a farce.
It’s just not good for the game imo to carry on like this.

I thought it was a good game, some spicy challenges, some good football. And to say it was a League/ Carabao cup game. Both teams wanted it. I was a bit surprised with Pope as he looked a bit iffy at times. The first goal at the Etihad is all important.
A rule I thought Odd. Semenyo playing even though he has already played for Bournemouth 🤔

People have been repeating this for the 5 or 6 years that it has been in operation

It has just been explained why Haaland was offside. Everyone is looking at the line between Haaland and the defender. However the line is between Haaland and Pope as Pope was in front of the defender. And by the letter of the law. Haaland is offside. Another However, the automated VAR line was broke so they had to do it by hand.
Now what did me re Pope playing Haaland offside. Pope made an attempt to get the ball.He misses, but inadvertently plays Haaland offside. So is Pope not interfering with play🤔 I don’t know.
The other point raised was. If Haaland was offside due to the ruling of Pope playing him offside and not the defender. Why was that not passed onto the crowd or tv.🤔

He is "iffy".

His kicking is absolutely atrocious. He clearly cannot time the kick, is too anxious and gets through the ball just a split second early, causing it to balloon up and lack distance. Either that or he just slices it out of play.

Good shot stopper...perhaps relies a little too much (ironically) on his feet to block shots but very agile.

But still a bit iffy.

The club need to secure a long term replacement if they want to move to the "next level".

Your hypothetical is pretty nonsensical to be fair :)

Pope interfering with play? Maybe Pope should be offside then :ROFLMAO: . It doesn't matter if a goalkeeper or defender moves and inadvertantly or advertantly catches a player offside, they are still offside.

From the image shown, I thought it looked like both Pope and defender were goalside of Haaland anyway. But it wasn't a straight angle, so as you've said, I guess he was ahead of Pope.

But must have been very very tight. And last weekend a player was clearly offside, so the excuse was there is a tolerance (first time I've heard that excuse needed). But was Haaland not within that tolerance?

So Utd are bringing in Southgate’s No2 to work with Carrick until the summer.

A sceptic might say he’s there to set the path ready for a former England manager to come in the summer having laid ground work with the team 😂
It certainly rules out Man Utd signing Ben White as a replacement for Dalot :ROFLMAO:

Aye whatever happened to being "cup tied?"

Those rules were abolished to be more in line with the league and UEFA rules, as well as easing flexibility for clubs acting in the January transfer window.

I believe they were originally brought in to stop big clubs hoovering up the best players whose clubs had already been eliminated from cups. I suppose that is less of a issue now, with FFP, transfer Windows and the fact domestic cups are less prestigious that decades ago.
