Keane has done nothing in management though bar a half decent spell at Sunderland nearly 20 years ago. He could also start a fight in an empty room. If he's the answer then things must be really bad. He was a great leader as a player, leading as a manager is totally different. Players don't respect a manager that rants and raves these days.

Ole will do a great job and he might bring in Keane as his assistant which is probably his idea role.

On the subject of Man Utd, yes they've had a poor decade or so since Ferguson went but it's not as bad as people think. In a pretty volatile time with bad appointments and terrible dealings in the transfer market, they've still won 2 FA Cups, 2 League Cups, 1 Europa League and reached 5 more major finals. Finished 3rd or better in 4 seasons too.

Wilcox is a joke though, no experience or track record of success at a big club so a very weird apppointment. He seemed to sack Amorim more for his comments than his shocking results which is a red flag.
For any other teams outside of City, Utd & LPool (maybe Arsenal) their supporters would be absolutely delighted with that return.

But for one of the biggest Clubs in Europe, if not the World, it needs to be PL & CL titles.

Lpool won a few CL and other trophies after 1989-90 but for some it still wasn’t enough.

So there is no chance the reports are correct , if not I’m surprised they haven’t been dismissed by the club

Its reported it multiple Manchester based sources , Fletcher also spoke to him before taking the job
And what's wrong with that? Ferguson is too wily to get involved in something like a Machievellian figure. Fletcher asked for advice and why not?

You know even if City had won that lot what Utd have won. As a City fan I would still be chuffed. But I agree the PL and CL are the trophies that show you have done it over a season.
Re Utd, it’s the hope that kills you. I think Utd fans have seen so many false dawns it just floors you. Just when you think you have turned a corner, there’s setbacks.
The Glaziers did the right thing in getting someone in to try and turn the club around, and not just team. But am not to sure that scruffy Jim is the man to do it. Someone without a single clue of how a club runs, with no connections in world football is running one of the biggest clubs in the world. 🤔

With the current City team that wouldn’t be seen as success, maybe the City of 20-30yrs ago though.👍🏻

I agree, was just trying to show it hasn't all been doom and gloom. I think only Liverpool, City and Chelsea have won more during that time. So in a low perioid they're still among the best.

From my point of view, I still don’t view my football team as an expectation of we should win something. Maybe that’s to do with growing up from an era where “ typical City” is still in the back of my head. But I am sure the newer fans have that expectation.
It’s like the title this year, I still think it’s Arsenals, we got back into the title race then typical City draw 3 on the spin 🫣
FA cup v Palace, I never expected the win and what happens we flippin lose 1-0 😖

My word, how bad was that?

Taking nothing away from Brighton, who were well organised and executed their game plan perfectly, but United were awful. Truly, truly dreadful.

For reasons I cannot begin to fathom, having spent most of the season not taking risks by playing out from the back, what do we do against a team which presses really well in the final third? Try and play out from the back. And the result was conceding possession time and again before we had even escaped our own half.

A dreadful team performance, punctuated by some equally dreadful individual performances. Dalot and Mount, in particular, were absolutely shocking.

I won’t lie. It’s been a crap week for supporters of a rudderless club, the true low point being the sacking of a manager because of Jason Wilcox having his ego bruised.

Fletcher is clueless, someone else should've been in place by now.

I know I've slated Sesko but he's been a real bright spot. Grabbed two during the week and had a few decent efforts tonight. Still big question marks long term but he's shown more this week than in the whole season.

I saw the game today. Have been reading all of the posts from last year but not watching premier league I never realised how bad united are. That aside, for all of you stringent followers of the premier league, how exhilarating was this weekends cup matches without VAR. A goal was a goal with no 5 minutes of waiting and offside was offside with no lines and 10 mins 😁 of waiting. The games flowed.

Is it ?
You should not move an injured person if you don’t know what you’re doing.
Unless their in danger!
He’s also wrong if he did but don’t think he did.
We moan when players roll about feigning injury and see players getting annoyed and try and “help” the player to their feet, and now you’re saying “you should not move an injured person etc.”

Ref’s are told to only stop a game for head injuries unless they see it’s a serious injury, but yet they can be 50-60 yds away.

Also it was Sobz who got to Bradley first and if you watch the video, he bends down and then Bradley shuffles back on to the pitch, obviously he and Martinelli must of thought he wasn’t that badly hurt and was trying to waste time.

We can’t have it both ways, either the Refs blow everytime someone rolls around or he doesn’t and we control our frustrations.

Brighton played great. Getting Gross back is a great move for them.

Utd had chances but lacked quality from the wings again. Getting Amad and Mbuemo back will hopefully provide the fans with a few wins and something to cheer about.

I know the media are allowed to give opinion without accountability, that’s what they do. But if Roy Keane tried to manage modern day players at any big club , the way he talks like he would, then the players would all end up like Rashford.

I think one of the biggest things about modern day football nowadays is the team of support staff that modern day managers bring with them. And every manager has Has different people doing different roles.
When people like Keane are mentioned, who are his support staff. There’s a good chance it’s the staff that is already at Utd and that includes Wilcox. So it begs the question “are they good enough”?
When Amorim left, who left with him? His entire support staff? If so there’s a void.
Like I say a new manager is only scratching the surface.
