Could do worse than Darren Fletcher in charge, he knows the expectations of the club and has won the lot.
Problem is, that is an unknown. He has never managed a team. He might be uncomfortable as well, as people might accuse him of a conflict of interest with his two sons in the squad?

If they are looking for a temp manager, Michael Carrick?

Is it not that his rigidity to a particular style of play has cost him? No matter how badly it was working, he refused to change. You became fairly simple to play against because people knew what was coming, whilst also not really having the players in key positions to pull it off.

You have to question the recruitment on this one, they clearly knew what they were getting yet went for it anyway.

As an outsider, I agree that he dealt with problem players well, but the progress has been very slow, too slow for the owners.

But the club knew that was his style. It can’t have come as any surprise to them, so if he has been sacked because of it then those is charge are even bigger buffoons than I thought, if that is even possible.

Problem now is who they can bring in. This appointment was a refreshing move for me. A guy who spoke well, knew his own mind, and didn’t suffer fools. He has done a lot of good.

The system is where I am torn. His lack of flexibility was frustrating, but we knew that’s what we were getting and, personally, I was willing to see where it took us.

Thank Christ we haven’t spent a fortune on two world class wingbacks.

Is that going to be a good or bad thing though?
Do the board want to go to a different system?
There has been a lot of talk from ex United players about it not being the United way
In the world of sporting directors and the like, you decide your preferred style of play and then get a coach to manage in that style. There is room for some manouvre but the basic style should remain. That way, if a manager leaves, someone can just step in keep the continuity going. I don't think Utd have had that train of thought for a good few appointments now. They need to take a step back, work out what they want, then look for a suitable manager. Not just another name that has done elsewhere but via a different method, eg Amorim

(sounds so obvious when you type it out, but apparanently it isn't 😄)

How would United fans feel about Zidane?

Couple of mates who are United fans seem very keen on him.

Could be an interesting appointment

He's said that he doesn't want to manage in England, but that was a while ago.
Could he have been sacked so quickly as Maresca is still twiddling his thumbs?

I think that if Utd continue to pursue a wing back system and 3 centre backs, rigidly, they will be crucified. It has been the biggest criticism by far of Amorim. And they still clearly have nowhere near the amount of players to play that system, apart from having some decent centre backs (if they stay fit)

They need a manager who is flexible at the very least. Perhaps INEOS and their staff have finally realised what people's expactaions of the "Utd way" is, and realised the Amorim appointment never fitted that style of play. Might have worked if we had unbelievable wing backs, like a young Gareth Bale, running up and down the wings. But, we have Dalot, whose only real attribute is he can take semi-long throw ins.

I don’t think Maresca would be on the radar, I would guess that’s just coincidence.

Sack Amorim for comments to the media then appoint the bloke sacked the day before for comments to the media 😂

Who do you think they will go for?
We all joke but will it be Southgate?
How long till big Sam gets a mention?

A guy who has not managed for 4-5 years, only ever managed Real Madrid, and I don;t think speaks English and has apparently no interest in being in England.

No thanks.

I think people are thinking of Zidane the player rather than the manager. I'd take him as a player still, bet he could still do a job :)

That’s so wrong
Taxpayers money going to the PL is an outrage given the money in football.🤬
It's about targeted recruitment though. You are hitting a lot of males/females of the right age who will be watching football. Where else could they target so many of the 'right' people?

I've done my best with my limited software. Looks onside to me. Only the left forearm below elbow over the line.

Why are you trying to draw the line from his armpit?

His upper arm (or shoulder) can score a goal legally, so it would be taken from the right edge of his sleeve as you look at the image above… Which is what they did?

Great point for Chelsea yesterday, thoroughly deserved, a refreshing performance… although there were individually some dreadful performances, especially Palmer and Neto. Nowhere near acceptable.
