The idea of league position this year is very misleading. I believe Everton would have been 5th had they beaten Brentford yesterday, briefly anyway. They lost and are 12th.

The question is, depending on what your expectations are, how many pointed are you behind the leaders, or second place etc. Utd are 17 points behind Arsenal, 11 points behind City, after 20 games. Is that enough, adding in the performances?

As a balance, Everton have been looking the other way for many years so we are 14 points above relegation :ROFLMAO:. It's about expectations, money spent etc.

Only 14 points of 2nd as well.😇

Glass is half full!

The stats don’t read great for Amorim. Worst prem win record at Utd and a minus goal deficit.

That said…..he’s inherited a poor team and even worse dressing room, and, I like what he’s done. Hes got rid of the bad eggs and the players seem to respond to him.

Results have not been great recently and maybe we should have beaten Wolves, West Ham and Bournemouth, but, we are missing key starting and squad players DeLigt, Maguire, Mainoo, Mount, Mbeumo, Amad and Mazaroui.

I’d have liked him to see out the season but for whatever reason (not spending in January) he’s fallen out with the board and engineered his exit.

There’s hardly a pool of world class managers available ! Southgate anyone ? 😂

I feel it’s a disappointing Prem this year, although it’s been heading that way for a couple of seasons. It’s resembling the Championship in so much as apart from 2-3 teams at the top, from 4th down to 16th there’s a good chance of every team beating each other. Great for the faithful seeing their team in with a chance every week but I think the quality has dropped off.

As a neutral, his style of play, results for yous, public comments (Grimsby) etc, he’s never looked settled or a long term solution.

Mate up here is a season ticket holder at Man Utd and he firmly believed he had yous going in the right direction and his age was an advantage as he was still learning.

But as I said to him, sadly no manager is in a position to tell any owners they are in the wrong and I agree he’s probably engineered his way out for a pay off rather than walking away himself.

I see it the opposite if I’m honest Bri, we’ve moaned for years about City “buying” the title and how boring it was and how we need others to break the monopoly.

Now we’ve got 3-4 teams challenging for the title, another 8-10 challenging for European spots and promoted Clubs looking like some of them will stop up.

I’d rather have the last 2 seasons than the previous 5 or 6.

I think it’s more that the top teams have dropped off, which obviously means there’s more teams competing for for the top spots & Europe. But that doesn’t necessarily mean the other teams have improved.

Think INEOS have been desperate to bring in Southgate imo and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him be given the job to see how he goes until the summer

Unfortunately the problems and solutions at Utd run far deeper than sacking a manager and bringing in a new manager.
And yet once more the Glaziers are well clear of any blame 😡

Stolen from anti-social media

The current odds for the next Manchester United manager following Ruben Amorim's departure are as follows:
  • Oliver Glasner: 7/2 (early favorite)
  • Gareth Southgate: 5/1
  • Enzo Maresca: 6/1
  • Mauricio Pochettino: 15/2
  • Darren Fletcher: caretaker charge

That last sentence is telling!

I think he’s right they are not fit to run UTD.
But actually saying it in public he knew that’s the end.

Question is will a big manager put up with them?
