I

have found MOTD lately might show one controversy in a game but leave out so many others.

Sky would have I’m sure but not MOTD.
I guess because MOTD has limited time to discuss each game, whilst fitting in several other games.

Whereas Sky can chat for over an hour after a game, and can use MNF to discuss the weekends biggest talking points

For the first time in a long, long time I thought the ref showed an obvious bias. I don’t usually subscribe to the idea of deliberate bias shown towards the top six, though it might happen from a subconscious perspective. But in the Forest/City game it was questionable…
Funny you should say that , over on City’s forum Bluemoon they all we’re saying Forest were heavy handed tactics and the ref was awful

Apart from Diaz should have walked. ( second yellow)

Letting City off with cynical fouls to break up Forests counter attacks.( their main tactics)

One Forest player lost part of his shirt in the winning goal phase of play.
Actually ripped his shirt off.

Not a mention of the last two on motd.

I always listen for the reaction of the crowd in live games it’s very telling in this one.
Foden had a high tackle on his knee . City fans think that should have been a Red

Which went to VAR👍
Personally I thought the ref was rubbish for both teams.☹️
I think it’s such a hard job for the ref now.
Players have got better at the dark arts and there are so many cameras now we often forget they only get 1 look at full speed from 1 angle.
For the City goal there are 2 players both grabbing each other both off the ball, how is the ref meant to know who committed the 1st offence. He would have been watching the player with the ball and when he sees the 2 players he probably thinks it’s 50/50 and if there is a foul then VAR can check it.

Having said that all refs like all players will have bad games or at least make bad decisions during a game.

I don’t think VAR actually helps the onfield officials a lot of the time.

Very good post. As much as I don’t rate Rooney re a pundit he gives a good opinion re The Cherki goal and MGW and O’ Reilly having a tussle. Problem is, The match fans don’t get to see that and it irks the fans.

Also sky show it from 50 different camera angles, slow it right down and debate it for an hour in a nice warm studio.

And as fans as much as we may not admit it we all feel slightly differently when it’s our team or a team/player we don’t like.
Thats just human nature
