Maybe need a “no coaching during the game rule”
I think tennis has this rule.
But enforcing it might be tricky.
I think it's been changed in tennis as it was difficult to enforce.

I think tennis has recently changed this, on the basis that coded messages were getting through anyway so they may as well open it up officially.Maybe need a “no coaching during the game rule”

This does beg the question “ why isn’t he looking at the flight of the ball”?
The picture shown for me shows why it is not a penalty, both players have there arms out for balance, not to gain an advantage.I looked and was accidental. However if his arm was above his shoulder height and moving towards the ball. It’s a nailed on penalty.I guess that as a defender, it can be just as important to look at the players around you as it is the flight of the ball.
Personally, I don’t want to see penalties given for that sort of incident. There’s plenty of other stuff I’d rather they clamped down on first. Just my opinion though.![]()
As I said previously, sack Maresca. Another appalling result for us this evening and it’s put me in a foul mood.
He should be sacked for playing Badiashile alone.
The lack of response to Villa’s triple substitution was painful.
Pulling Cole Palmer was bemusing.
The lack of game time for Acheampong and Estevao is beyond belief. It shows he doesn’t place any merit on performances, or have the balls to play them over a “senior” player.
He doesn’t have a clue. One of the worst managers at team selections and substitutions I can recall at Chelsea, he simply gets it wrong every time. I can’t remember a single time he’s got it right with personnel.
It’s formulaic dross. Unbearable to watch. We throw away leads like confetti, we don’t ever kill a game, and we deteriorate into chaos in the 2nd half.
Now now don't be cruel. Great 3 points for Spurs.Something enjoyable about seeing Richarlinson goals being disallowed![]()
All of that is spot on.
The bigger issue is what's the actual goal for the owners at Chelsea? They don't seem to have any interest in building a team to win the title in the traditional way, they just seem to want to sign young talented players to increase their value but have no actual goal. They've been there over 3 years and spent a fortune but there seems to be no sort of plan. I'd be interested to hear what you think of them and what you think the next few years will hold..
They have Garnacho, they should be OK.....Another issue for Chelsea is that they have nine games before the end of January, including games against Arsenal, Man City and Napoli.

Yes but it’s one step away from stoppages midway to shoehorn adverts in.I think tennis has recently changed this, on the basis that coded messages were getting through anyway so they may as well open it up officially.
I don't think football would like a change. TV like managers acting like pantomime characters on the sidelines. I think they see it as part of 'the show'.
Great example of 2 very talented players who could be halfway through great careers challenging for the very top honours in the game both at club level and international. They had him yesterday against Villa, but Villa had the mighty Sancho!

I'd agree.Great example of 2 very talented players who could be halfway through great careers challenging for the very top honours in the game both at club level and international.
Unfortunately neither had the mindset to be top players and now play bit parts for their clubs.
When we talk about the very best players one thing often overlooked is the mental side of the game.
Agreed. From what I’ve seen they’re viewing it as a business but not in the sense that they’re looking to get money via winning things. The main objective is to identify new talent or undervalued players and then try and flip them for a profit. The winning side of things seems to be secondary although I suspect that their plan is reliant on having European football
I think Ronaldo is a great example.I'd agree.
To expand a bit on their differences:
I think Sancho is just lazy. Once he got his super high wages, I think he enjoyed living the wealthy life, loved his video games, and just felt he would waltz into starting 11. After all, why wouldnt a club automatically play such a well paid asset? Dont think he has the fight to force his way back in. He probably realises there are better players ahead of him.
Garnacho may have a bit more fight, but he already believes he is at the level of Cristiano Ronaldo. So he gets frustrated and angry when he doesn't make the team. If he realised he was nowhere near that level, and other players in the team were at his level or better, then I suspect he would have more fight and motivation to improve. Perhaps the overhead kick he scored was the worst thing that ever happened to him, as from that point he was led to believe he had mastered football and everyone would worship him thereafter
I think this post adds to a very good post you wrote re mental strength. One other thing that has let players down in the past is Agents. In Sanchos case the warning signs were already there when he was breaking out of the Acadamy, his attitude and expectation was shocking. Sancho is at one end of the polar spectrum but when you look at players like Milner and Gareth Barry at the other end. They have achieved so much more with arguably less natural talent.I think Ronaldo is a great example.
No doubt he has a massive ego but he was a young player with super talent but he learnt his trade, listened to coaches/managers and improved into one of the best players in the world.
He could have just been another talented player but he had the mindset he wanted to be one of the best players of all time.
Still a knob though![]()

When they bought Garnacho, they didnt need Garnacho. But, given he was going to leave at a cheap rate, it seemed inevitable the primary reason to bring him in was to sell him on a year or two later for profit. The owner is like a person who buys and sells things on ebay to make money, when it comes to transfer windows.
Next time a young player is unsettled at a top club, or a cheap buy out clause can be activated, I expect Chelsea to be sniffing. Even if they already have 4 or 5 players in that position
Why are you talking about us?So Wirtz scored, and Chelsea lost...
Can't tell why the chelsea fan has gone quiet.......![]()
