As a Utd fan I've heard for years how awful we have been at spending money. And I agree.

However, it has also come with the arrogance of some Liverpool fans, who take any chance to tell the rest of us how amazing they are at spending money. They do things the right way. The Liverpool way.

Well, I think the Liverpool way had truly been redefined this season :)
Honestly, as a City fan, when you have been through the years of Peter Swales and Franny Lee, spending money on rammel players. Well I think we invented it.
Not having a go at any club, but in general has the purchasing of players got more complicated.
As an example, Klopp had his style of play, but when Slot came in has his choice of players fit in with the old style, same with Amorim taking over from ETH. Who are the people behind the scenes that make choices. Are these people more accountable than the managers themselves.

He will always been under pressure , comes with the job , it’s how he reacts , couple years back we lost 8 in ten including 5 home games on the bounce then got knocked out of the cup by your guys

Klopp changed a few things and recovered - Slot needs to change things and it might include some big choices

I mean serious pressure, Phil. The sort of pressure that Amorim has been under almost constantly since the beginning of this season.

I keep hearing about last season meaning there is credit in the bank, but another two or three weeks like this last few, and there is a considerable risk that, having spent the best part of half a billion quid, Liverpool will not have Champion’s League football next season. Can the owners really afford that level of risk?

I’m not sure they can.

There are many quality players in the world, more than there are squad spaces at all the top clubs. So inevitably top clubs will get signings wrong, whilst clubs who spend less money can find gems, and get a good string of results.

Expensive mistakes can become long term problems due to contracts players are on. Confidence can drop like a stone, and even make elite footballers look like hung over Sunday League players, relative to their opponents.

Money is important. But it can still be a gift or a curse.

We have missed out on CL 3 years ago and the owners didn’t panic , they won’t now as well it’s just not how they work

He is under pressure and it’s a big test for him

Phil says the owners will back Slot and not jump.

I’m not convinced. Was in the ground tonight, first time since Stevie Gerrards testimonial - so can’t comment on what it’s been like recently. but while I actually think we played well for probably 70 minutes of the game, you can’t be manager of a club like Liverpool (or, pick any other club top level club) and have the run of results we have including 3 games in a row losing by 3 goals.

I think the club will give him time. But I don’t see where a turnaround in fortunes is coming from. Slot made statement after statement about coaching players, yet the players coming in this season are simply not as good as the previous squad.

It’s not good enough.

I still feel you have to give new players time to settle in. However it’s the players who have won the league last year that are letting it down.
Salah,VVD, Konate, MacAlister have all been atrocious. All the injuries as well have impacted as well.
I thought Kerkes was a bit of a shining light last night with his efforts and endeavours. At least he tried all the time.

Yet Kerkes has been woeful all season. He was woeful for at least one of the goals last night. Gerrard and McManaman were bathing of him afterwards. Gerrard named the players in the back 4, ending with "that is not a Liverpool back 4"

Apart from Ekitke, the other signings have been woeful as well.

Everyone is letting the club down. Perhaps the only players who have done alright are Ekitke and Bradley, generally

Having watched the highlights last night, the effort that Salah put in last night, if that was a acadamy player he would not be anywhere near the first team again this season. The example to younger players at the moment is shocking. Is he saving himself for Afcon.
One thing is for certain, he is tarnishing his reputation. And probably not the only one.

A post match report referring to Patrick Bamford (now Sheff Utd) as 'England International'. He played once for England in 2021 :ROFLMAO:
They’re not wrong though. As soon as a player steps onto the field to play in a sanctioned international match it’s official. England international. Plenty of 1 cap wonders out there now

As every match goes on, it gets stranger and stranger that Salah still starts. Not only that, does he stay on typically all game?

I once appeared on the news when I was a young RAF apprentice. I was part of the guard of honour at the London Palladium for the late Queen Mother's 90th birthday celebrations - does this make me a TV star or a West End Theatre star? :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
