The argument has now changed though.
Previously it was if the player was onside or offside (factual)
Now it’s if they were interfering (opinion).

The argument is slightly different, personally I prefer it without the VAR
I know what you are saying but var gives you the chance to see if they were interfering or not. Without var, that decision is very difficult to make.

Incidentally, the arsenal second goal comes very much into that territory. I'm surprised more wasn't made of that

The difference is those managers you talk about not liking didn’t win you the league , Slot won the league , not sure why someone would dislike a manager that does that

That really depends on your perspective. For me, football is about enjoyment first and foremost. If you play exciting and attractive football, I’ll be a big fan of team and manager. If you win a title or two along the way, then that’s a massive bonus.

If my team played absolute dross and won the title then I’d probably like the team for winning, but I could take or leave the manager.

I suspect my mate would like Slot more if he had been there two or three years and then won the league with his own team, playing in his image. The fact that he won it with an inherited squad perhaps means Slot still has work to do to prove himself as a manager, and to date is falling short.

In other news, how bad are Spurs?

It’s the whole in the line of the keeper but not interfering etc etc - if someone is offside they are offside -forget all the interfering stuff

It does but the officials should be able to see that as well (especially if they didn’t have VAR to fall back on).

The problem is it’s not factual so one ref would give it another ref wouldn’t.
That’s the bit I don’t like.

Anyway your an Evertonion so you don’t know what it’s like to score a goal during the VAR era yet 😂😂

Agree that he still has some work to do and thankfully I think he will be given time to do that and this season there are a number of things not going well - we need to start working hard for a start.

Also agree about exciting football - it was strange to see Mourinho change into such a negative manager when his time at Porto and first season at Chelsea he was very much attacking

And Spurs will always be Spurs - Arsenal will stroll to the title

My wife also has a new favourite footballer. Hincapie for Arsenal she’s insisting that his name on his shirt looks more like Mincepie 🤣. So she’s now decided until Christmas he’s her favourite footballer and is cheering him on telling the commentators they’ve got his name wrong 🤣

Love the fact there is a game going on with title contenders and everyone is ignoring it to continue whinging about VAR and referees.

This is a decent game and had some good hefty challenges.
That’s because Liverpool are apparently the centre of the footballing universe and nothing else matters

How on earth did Oliver not initially see that as a yellow to Rice? Or was he giving himself a ridiculous amount of time to think about it? Seemed like he only decided to give it once he realised it angered the Spurs players

"Interfering with play" has been a component of the offside rules for over 100 years.

And I guess he wants Klopp back

We have won two titles in 30plus years and people have already turned on one of the manager who won one of them

Yep it's mad. His first season would rank in my view as one of the most impressive seasons in the history of the PL. Even Pep struggled badly when he took over a stacked City team and spent a fortune.

Liverpool attempted a rebuild in the summer and spent a load of money. New players take time to bed in. In hindsight it was too much, especially the full backs but you've got to give him at least until the end of the season. To me it looks like Salah is the one that's dropped off and his workrate has been dire. You can carry someone if they're getting 40 goals and assists but not when they're managing barely anything.

It might be time to accept the title has gone and focus on the rebuild and get Salah out in January.
