What is the handball rule this week?

Referee goes to the screen, and for probably only the second time I can recall since VAR was introduced, he has applied common sense. That, ladies and gents, is exactly what VAR was brought in for. Never a handball in a month of Sundays. We’d all be fuming if that had been given against our teams.

And Mark Clattenburg is an absolute buffoon.
More evidence that broadcasting companies are just wasting our subscription fees by employing ex referees to give their opinions.

Their opinions bring zero added value

The whole discussion was absolutely laughable. Never, ever was that a handball. No right minded football fan can ever argue there was any intent, that the defender deliberately made himself bigger, that the arm was in an unnatural position, or anything else. To suggest otherwise is absolute claptrap. And none of the “experts” on TV come anywhere close to getting the point at all.

Can’t wait to hear Daniel Sturridge humiliate himself.

Fowler humiliated himself.

Walcotte and Rooney spoke sense, and Rooney was delighted VAR did its job.

Sturridge had no complaints. He was speaking last though, so he'd have looked even sillier to say it was a penalty.

Wonder what the commentary team will say at start of 2nd half. They were expecting the pundits to back them no doubt

Bottom line, that was VAR being used properly. Not only was it not a penalty, it wasn’t even a handball.

Absolutely first class refereeing. A really refreshing change.

Also, Bayern thumping PSG quite easily.

However, Diaz made a crazy and pointless challenge right at end of half. Might have got away with yellow, except PSG player looked badly hurt. VAR eventually got ref to review it, red card

Deserved win for Liverpool. Madrid simply didnt turn up...or, maybe to give Liverpool a bit of credit, were not allowed to turn up.

Bradley was immense.

My phone is irritating me a bit as a mate who is a Spurs fan is giving it large about beating Copenhagen.

Okay. Ive had a long day and I’m proper grumpy before the football even starts. So I am going to ask a question I’ve been skirting around, if not completely avoiding, for far too long.

Just how long are TV producers going to indulge Liverpool and their fans by having a complete commentary blackout, with cameras panning around the stands, during the pre kick-off sing song? They are not the only football club in this country with fans who enjoy a tune, yet prior to every home game it is absolutely rammed down our throats.

As I said. Long day. And I’m tired. And grouchy.
If UTD had a decent song they might show it !😂

It’s one of the reasons I tend to avoid most liverpool games unless it’s the only one available to watch. The love in they get is bizarre, saw a great stat the other day where Liverpool fans and media were saying everyone needs to give Isak time to settle at a new club and it’s not easy to adjust. Same media in the next sentence slating Arsenal signing Gyokeres saying for the price paid he should be better and that Sesko isn’t the player Utd thought they’d get yet they’re the ones in a new league and need more time. You couldn’t make it up!
That’s the media for you.🤷‍♂️

Yeah, you should have watched Van De Ven score what undoubtedly will be goal of the season! 🤣

That’s never a penalty, what can he do there.
I agree
But the ref was three yards away and gave handball. He had the best view of anybody.
He even put the foam line on the pitch.
I thought VAR was not supposed to re ref the game!
Their job was to say if it was in or out factually.

Deserved win for us but a bit wasteful up front again.
But players are starting to tick .

Bradley MOM for me.
Dissapointed with Real thought they were average.

They did. They factually said it was in the box. At which point, the actual call of handball was reviewed. As expected.

Had it been factually outside the box, Liverpool would have had the free kick, because the refs decision cannot be reviewed
