Atletico taking a pumping at the Emirates
Been watching the 2nd half since getting back from work. Been a one of the best performances I’ve seen from Arsenal this season and actually getting the ball into the Striker makes such a difference rather than their usually safe backwards playAtletico taking a pumping at the Emirates
Liverpool beat Besiktas 8 nil 20 years agoIs the Champions League getting worse? I don’t recall teams scoring 6 or 7 goals in a match before. Has the expanded format lead to more one sided games that are purely for money before the real competition starts in the knockouts?
Well googled - but as I don't recall them my point still standsLiverpool beat Besiktas 8 nil 20 years ago
Munich won 7 nil last season
Madrid have put 8 past a team before

My point is that last night there seemed to be more than usual - which to me says the competition is getting weaker. As you had to go back 20 years for 1 of your examples then my point seems to be valid. 3 teams scoring 6 or more goals is not usual in europeDidn’t need to google it - remember it clearly
Big scoring games have been happening for decades
I remember Utd thrashed Roma 7-1, hammered Brondby (scored 6 i believe) and I also think they thrashed Feberbache when Rooney scored a hat trick on his debut. Is the Champions League getting worse? Last night was an odd un. Of the 9 games last night, one was a 0-0. I have never heard of the team Inter beat. Watching Olympiacos last year, they were equivalent to a Division one team.I remember Utd thrashed Roma 7-1, hammered Brondby (scored 6 i believe) and I also think they thrashed Feberbache when Rooney scored a hat trick on his debut.
No idea if the proportion of big wins is more or less than before. But assuming there are many more games now, it would def make sense we'll see a higher number of big wins, just like we'll see a higher number of 0-0's
But, there could still def be an element of a higher proportion of big wins now. The best teams have always been in it. But with more and more teams, the gap between biggest and worst sides could well be getting bigger. Thus, more big scores when teams with a big gulf play each other
Nick Pope looked very Peter Schmiechel last night![]()

He looked like me with the ball at his feet. And for context, let’s just say my first touch wasn’t silky. Meaning I rarely got a second one.
His finger barely touches the player and looks very much like an accident. Never a card in a million years. Did they not VAR check it??

Stupid self-imposed rules. Obviously it resulted in a red card so I don't see why they wouldn't check it. Literally tying their own hands behind their backs.Yellow card - can’t check it
