What an absolute load of rubbish. So Liverpool players never hit the deck and stay there? Yeah, right. I know he goes on to stress this wasn’t why they lost the game, but please don’t insult our intelligence.

When Slot first arrived in the Premier League I really quite liked the guy. I’m going off him very, very quickly.

Think he should be more concerned that the UTD player on the floor in the incident got him self up & scored, whilst big Virg just strolled back šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

How he’s even in the conversation with Terry & Ferdinand baffles me.

Whilst I go along with the "we don't do that" comment, I do think the ref should have stopped the game for a head injury, which it was. However, I also acept that many players go down now holding their head or face even when they've had a bang on their elbow. And before anyone starts on, the defending was poor..no question. However, a head injury is potentially a lot more serious than a bruised elbow or knee, and this applies to any player of any team.
What would be a lot better, would be if VAR intervened when a player is hurt in that way and has a potentially serious injury that is overlooked by the ref and tell the ref accordingly.
Also its about time players were punished for feigning injury with a yellow card each time.

As with most injuries there have been too many feigning injuries that anyone is suspected when they go down

The only thing I was annoyed at was the nonsense explanation that he didn’t see it when it was right under his nose

McAllister clearly had a head injury and the game should have been stopped but doesnt excuse the poor defending

We see it regularly where play isn’t stopped straight away,I’m sure if UTD hadn’t scored & play continued, the ref would have blown.
From the incident, the attack was pretty quick.
And let’s not forget it was his own player that did it,that goal had nothing to do with bad refereeing.

im sure Liverpool would have kicked the ball out if it was Bruno laying on the floor šŸ˜‰

Did I say it was bad reffing?
A head injury is what it was, who gave him it doesn't matter.
This is more about player welfare, not what colour shirt they wear.

Like I said, very rare the ref blows straight away.
Shouldn’t Isak & Salah’sperformances be more of a talking point?
And the 2nd most expensive player in British history warming the bench 😬

No ceiling šŸ˜‰

Rules for a head injury are clear - game should be stopped immediately, doesn’t matter how that’s come about

Oliver bottled it with the claims of not seeing it

But wasn’t the reason why we lost - missing countless chances was

Maguire got knocked on head later in game, and play continued. It often takes a while for a ref to evaluate how serious it might be.

Rarely does ref stop play instantly for any knock on the head. It is embarrassing when suddenly Liverpool fans think otherwise

I’m going to try and inject a little common sense to this argument.

The rules around head injuries are, presumably, intended to safeguard players who may have suffered a concussion. MacAllister was far from lying motionless, he was rolling around. That, to the layman, would suggest that he has not been knocked out, and yet we are expecting a referee to make an IMMEDIATE decision that a player has suffered a serious head injury? I just think that’s a little unrealistic, especially in the brief time available between VVD inadvertently elbowing his own player, and United scoring.

Of course Oliver saw the challenge. I don’t think he’s suggesting otherwise. But I suspect what is being suggested is that he didn’t see that MacAllister had sustained a head injury which merited him stopping the game.

I don’t think it’s that unreasonable.

The one thing is the incident shouldn’t and doesn’t define the game

McAllister had a head injury that required stitches and if he decided to play on because he didn’t think it was a serious injury then that’s his judgement call - for the referee match centre to say that he didn’t see the player on the floor and the first time they saw him was after the call imo is just covering up for themselves

But it’s not the reason we didn’t win and it’s not the reason why the goal was scored

On what planet is Troy Deeney a pundit that should be on MotD - he is at the level of Agbonlahor

At least it keeps the same level of nonsense in the Team of the Week that Crooks used to do

Thought it was bad enough with Rooney šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø

I’d take Deeney over Gabby and Rooney any day at least he actually says what he thinks and not what he thinks sounds clever but instead is absolute šŸ’© like the other 2

I agree with your assessment.
Except the bit where he said ā€œ he didn’t see itā€ he quite clearly did.
So how long is to long to leave it ?
That’s the question imo

If he saw a player holding his head he should stop the game.
His excuse was a cop out.!

I got a head injury in the first half of a game, playing rugby. I played on but half way through the second half I asked the ref could I leave the field. 5 days later I was blue lighted to hospital and spent 10 days in ICU. Fractured skull & a bleed.

A ref can’t make a medical assessment, that should be down to the club’s medical staff.

Matches should be stopped for any and all head injuries. Yes, some clubs will abuse it to slow games down but what alternative action should be taken for a head injury?

It’s the bit about seeing a player holding his head and stopping the game I have an issue with, for the reasons I detailed. There’s a difference between a nasty cut and a concussion, and because MacAllister was rolling around my layman’s view would be that it’s less likely to be the latter. EDIT: And it’s not as though there was a delay in the player receiving medical attention anyway - I’m quite sure, had MacAllister been motionless for several seconds, the outcome would have been different, and rightly so.

And I didn’t say Oliver didn’t see the challenge and the player going to ground. He quite clearly did, as it was right in front of him - you can see he is looking right at it if you watch the match coverage. What I suggested he may not have seen is the nature of the injury, and I maintain my stance that it’s probably unreasonable to expect him to.

Anyway, it’s been done to death.
