Just watched the 1st half. Bolton well on top I'm afraid. Odd time Reading have the ball on the attack there's a rush to pump it in the box without looking up

As Tashy would say....rammel.

My expectations are so low that I'm actually fairly happy we've limited them to one shot from range. We've gone there to park the bus and grab something on the counter.

The team is set up so badly though and Charlie Savage is running around like a headless chicken.

If a 38 year old Vardy is the best they can do (even as a back up striker) then they can forget about progressing.
He might have one more season in the championship in him,but he’s definitely not premier league anymore imo.
His game was all about pace & he’s lost that.

Fair comment but he would be a better back up than Wilson who was always injured. Vardy might have lost pace but he's not slow and would be ideal off the bench for 20 mins each week. He got 1 in 3 for a relegated side in the PL last season.

Wonder who he gets that from?

He's actually a different type of player to his Dad in the sense he's a better passer and has a really strong shot. He just seems to feel he has to charge around into tackles instead of pressing at the right time. There's a real player there but it gets lost in that!

Sums up my thoughts on the first half exactly. We’ve gone there to try and not lose instead of playing football.

Absolutely toothless up top chucking in the ball and hoping it hits someone. Defensively looking panicked and playing kick it and hope. The midfield isn’t providing proper protection as there is so many gaps. All in all have to be content to go in at half time level. It’s going to be a long season if these tactics continue.

Defended competently. Though a set piece is your only chance I feel judging by what I saw 1st half.
Savage on a yellow so has to watch himself

I find it crazy that with all the scouting & academies that we are discussing Vardy at 38 for a top prem club.
And that’s not a dig at you.

Tbf tho he scored 4 more goals than Nunez & only 1 less than Jackson 🤷‍♂️

In the two games against us last season he seemed to me be a very poor version of his old man.

Robbie could take the ball under pressure and then move it on, something that the lad didn't seem capable of.

But, like his father, showed the tendency to be like the fireman who always arrived late when the fire was out of control.

Agreed I saw a lot more of Senior than Junior.

80mins before we created anything and a 17yr old lad has come to our rescue. We have absolutely stolen a point tonight but I’ll take it.

A lot of improvement needed, but some positive signs in the last 15mins. Needs to be more like that earlier in games and we need to be less hit and hope with the final ball.

And they were two of his better performances! 😅 Robbie was great at what he did though, players like him are underrated. He didn't play at that level for over a decade for no reason. I've had the pleasure of meeting him a few times over the last two years and he's one of the most genuine and decent people I've met from football. His son was sold a lie by our previous owner and not once has Robbie or Charlie ever kicked off, they've just knuckled down and got on with things.

Vardy is a class act though and knows where the goal is. Always been super lean and fit and would be a great addition to most clubs as an impact player. He's won a title and not many at Newcastle have. I think we could see a big move near deadline day and it might be better than Newcastle....

We'll take that and get the hell out of there. Awful ground for us and a point is an excellent result. We looked a lot better once we made a few changes and went for it. The lack of quality up front is shameful, we need to spend some money and bring in a proper number 9.

Who is plan E on the striker front?

11 days and counting until the window closes 😬
Hojlund...£30m...reckon with our attacking talent we can create enough opportunities for him to demonstrate that he isn't useless.

Failing that....stick Joelinton up front.

For once though...I reckon transfer deadline day will be utterly frantic on a number of fronts!!!

That’s actually not a bad shout. The kids has potential and Eddie Howe is the kind of manager that could get the best out of him.

Is Jackson still being mentioned as a possibility?

Give it time.

For your sake I hope Charlie is more honest than his father based upon the nature of his departure to Blackburn.
