England Under 19's given a lesson in how to use, create and deny (in defensive situations) space by their Dutch counterparts this evening. The contrast between the two teams, especially in a one sided first half, was sobering.

The team in orange, spreading themselves across the park in attack, moving into space, supporting their team mates, making confident easy passes. The team in white, a group of individuals, trying to beat players on their own, getting closed down, running into blind alleys instead of laying the ball off to a colleague under less pressure.

Improved in the 2nd half but a comeback from 3-0 down never looked likely.

At one time England were qualifying for the semi finals with just 2 points from their 3 group games. Qualification changed three times in the closing stages. Norway were in the box seat when they took the lead on 72 minutes, but a German equaliser on 85 minutes seemed to give England a reprieve (all three teams having 2 points but England having a better goals scored record). The Germans did what the Germans do so often though and a 91st minute winner saw them through...though having seen them leak goals against England the other night, I dont think they will have much of a chance against Spain.

England defensively awful....11 goals conceded in the group, only first time qualifiers Montenegro in the other groups conceded more (12). By contrast, Englands 9 goals scored made them the joint top scorers in the group stage along with Spain and the Netherlands.

Ahh well....Under 21's tomorrow...though it could be a tough ask against Spain.

Just saw Chelsea got a good result. Lost 3-1 to Flanengo, Jackson sent off.

I think they want their holidays.

Big improvement from Aukland though. Only lost 6-0 today
This “competition” is embarrassing.
Will anyone care who actually wins it?

Just let the players have some time off.

@Swango1980 wait until you hear about the no-heading rule in kids football!:eek::eek:🤣
As much as that is a valid comment. I once went to watch grandson training at his football team when he was 7/8yr old. It was -4/5. Soddin freezing. The coach decided it was a good time for heading practice. 8 kids were stood in a circle freezing there tits off whilst he threw a ball at one kid to head whilst the other 7 froze.
I was absolutely gobsmacked and bloody livid. He left 2 weeks later.

Think Napoli have done similar although suspect they’ll both fall over unless Sancho can get over his own ego and take the required pay cut.

People say "take a pay cut" but why should players when it's a club issue? This isn't the first time united have been caught out by giving large contracts. Maigures move to west ham fell through because of united not wanting to pay out his contract so he could accept a lower wage. They only have short careers and want to maximise their income.

Sanchos contract for example ends 2026. Why would he accept a lower deal when he could move for free next summer? Get himself a decent sign on bonus and then get wages that suit? Ignoring tax rates in the UK Vs italy and just focus on cash itself if he agreed a 200k a week deal that's 5.2 million before tax loss. That's a lot of money in anyone's book. We don't know what he does with his cash, for example African players their wages a lot of them send money back to their local towns to fund projects so their wages can't really drop or they can't support the work they want to do.

I wouldn't say his ego is stopping the move

Is it down to the coaching at England level or at their clubs ?

Go past there on the train. What's it like? Plenty trees railway side
Lovely condition greens were excellent.

Some very quirky holes with trees in the middle of fairways .
It’s a position based course if you hit a bad shot it’s hard to recover.
Very enjoyable golf but the heat did for me.

Bar staff and clubhouse are excellent.
If it was closer to me I would join there👍
