The stories about spotting ladies in the crowd I can confirm were prevalent in the F1 paddock for testing and racing.

I was offered a guest pass for the week if I could rustle some tyres … this was a test in Kyalami with BAR , Williams and some one else. So we negotiated and I got the pass and then we went into the crowd and asked a lady to join us as a guest for the week ..

Some of these ex-footballers make a decent living out of after dinner speaking, sharing their old stories with the public. And good luck to them!

Mark Crossley tells some good ones, mostly about Cloughie. But Jason McAteer is up there with the best, especially for his ones about Roy Keane. Have heard it many times and no doubt a lot of you guys have, but this one is probably my personal favourite:

Jason McAteer must be closed to being the stupidest person walking the earth

We have had some very good after dinner speakers - Ray Parlour prob the best

Who ever gave Frank career advice, I hope they also sorted out a contract that makes sure he is paid for an exit.
Managing Spurs is a poison chalice, too much intervention from the “business “ side of the organisation.
Why is this the rhetoric everyone spouts? Apart from managing the funds more tightly than some other chairman, what has Levy done wrong? I'd have given Nuno more time, but every other sacking he's made was justified.

Edit: The timing of Mourinho's sacking was awful, but it was also inevitable.

Is it? Traditionally, Spurs will generally be expected to finish above Brentford, and I'm not sure there were any other better manager jobs available to him anyway?

Spurs could be the perfect job. More money to spend, better players, a chance to succeed where other managers have not, in a pretty high profile job. And, if it all goes wrong, then he has a Get Out of Jail free card, because most of the media and fans will blame Levy instead of him. So he'll probably walk into another very nice job afterwards anyway

Kinda agree, they're a level above Brentford.

He can steady them to consistent top 7 finishes and Europe each year (which he's more than capable of) if hes been capable of top 12 in a team with nowhere near the same money.

Fair enough, Spurs might not pay Man City wages or Man United transfer fees but they are capable of more financially than Brentford and his team will be/ should be higher quality across more areas.

He is also less likely to get his team raided each season so he can build properly. It's a good move imo

Shrewd business from the Scousers. Sure they spent big but ended up being less than originally thought.. wonder if a cheap sale of a player BL are wanting off them will follow.. but they have identified targets early and got them done.

Joking apart, absolutely. Maybe it's what you have to do to win big now but that's the reality.

We as a club have spent well over the years , but it’s always been money from within the clubs earnings and at times using players that the club has sold , we will prob need to sell a few this summer as well. Every club needs to buy players

Club when they spend most of the time it’s spent well and certainly not a scatter gun

Get ready for the Net spend reply 😂
Incoming..........😂. Anyway, it doesn't matter. It's still buying success with money that most clubs can't dream of. It really isn't different to City, Chelsea, Utd (one for the oldies 🤭).

We've known it for a while really, this just underlines it, in bold and highlighted.
